Hey All,

I have a few questions for 06.. M35x owners that currently own or have owned and installed the Espelir Lowering Springs.

As an owner of a x (awd) getting these springs or less than a handful of coilover companies are my only options. I cant afford coil's so I plan on purchasing the Espelir. My questions are:

1, The Burtman Industry site says the springs give a 1" drop but some pics I've seen appear to have more than an inch. I am looking for atleast 1.5" of a drop. We all know that our cars come with a huge gap between tire & body. How much of a drop would you all say was added to your M after installing the springs?

2, How would you compare the ride after the install. Any issues (rubbing etc)?

3, If you dont mind sharing, how much did you pay for the install? I am just trying to get a good idea of how much I should be expecting to pay to add these on and not get ripped off. I have a local mechanic who said he can do it fore me

4, Besides the installation, is there anything else that needs to be done for these to work properly. I've read in other posts that peeps needed to get an alignment done?

5, Any pros/cons anyone care to share?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out. I really want these springs but want to make sure I get a decent drop out of them and that they are worth the purchase overall and do not cause any issues in the future.

Not many people run this setup that I've seen post...so your responses may be limited. I would say it'll do what you want though.

You'll need an alignment 30 days or 1,500 miles after install. This gives the spring time to settle.

Most don't run this set up because of price :frown:

H-Tech are less but don't give a big drop but they're are really nice

Pending mileage on your M you may need to replace the struts/shocks when installing lowering springs. Thus the reason most go with coilovers, being able to adjust the height you want is priceless.

Installation pending on your area will be $300 - $400

I say if you have the tools, space & a few good friends do it yourself and save some money. A case of beer some hot dogs & burgers go a long way

Honestly, I got my coilovers for just under $1,000 and I needed struts/shocks anyway like Freddie said. I had some issues with ride height and Freddie even got on the phone with me in an effort to assist but in the end I ended up having a local shop adjust the height.

The install itself was fairly straight forward and you can see the write ups in the FAQ thread of my signature.

What kind of height issues did you have?

I had that springs, the front drops about 1.2 and the rear a little lower. The ride is just like stock.

I have had the espilir springs on my X for about 2 years, and they are well worth it. Totally changes the look and feel of the car. The drop is about 1-12 inches in back and 1-1/4 inch in front. Ride quality is almost identical to stock. Nice and smooth but noticeably better in the corners. No rubbing (up, down or at full steering lock). However, my exhaust will scrape the bottom of my driveway and some other steeply graded areas. Not terrible as long as you approach slowly. With 2+ adults, this can be a bigger problem. However, it's never caused any real damage to the exhaust. I paid $4000 for the install....but well worth it for he better look and handling, IMO. Add an alignment to the total cost, for sure.

Note that I have 20x9 wheels on my car, and have no issues. I imagine anything wider might have rubbing issues. But 20x9 is a perfect fit with the lowered chassis. If you go wider, you'd have to play with camber, which looks dumb and compromises handling.

Lastly, I have about 100,000 miles on my car, and I am still on the original shocks. But if/when they go, I may go to adjustable coilovers, since the cost should be about the same as if I purchased shocks and spring separately.
