When comes to cars in general I don't know a lot but certainly know how and love to drive them LOL. Not knowing a lot about cars, I am even more of an idiot when talking about about tires and wheels. When I purchased my certified pre-owned 2015 Q70L the online listing the dealer had for the car said it was a Performance and Tire package. That meant the car came with 20 inch tires. The listing also specifically states the car has 20 inch tires. I should have checked the tires out before I purchased but I got all excited about the price and low mileage. I totally forgot that the car was supposed to have 20 inch tires. Instead the car has 18 inch tires. Here is where my ignorance comes in.

Because the tires were changed to 18 inch does that mean the wheels were changed too? Or is it possible that the wheels can support 18 inch and 20 inch tires? In other words, if I want 20 inch tires I need to get wheels that will allow 20 inch tires?

Should I go back to the dealer and insist they put 20 inch tires on the car? I purchased the car less than 2 weeks ago.

A 20" tire can only go on a 20" wheel/rim etc... So the tires were changed with the wheels to 18".
Looks to me like false advertising so I would definitely go back and ask what the deal is. It is possible the wheels were swapped last minute by the person at the dealership in charge of getting the car ready for sale (without management's approval). Although it's more likely it happened earlier and the listing person just pulled the info from the computer system and never checked.

IF you got a CPO, than I assume you purchased it from an infiniti dealer. Which makes a good case for actually getting the wheel upgrade if you go back to them....

Yes I purchased it from an Infiniti dealer. What is a CPO? I saved the listing from the internet that says it's a Performance and Tire package and has 20 inch tires. What if they simply copied the original specs of the car for the advertisement and failed to compare to the car? I should still have a solid case to ask for the 20 inch tires?

CPO is just Certified Pre Owned.

I am not sure about the legalities in advertising one thing and providing another (although you signed and agreed to receive the car as is), but it is definitely worth asking. The 20 inch wheels and tires are not cheap when done right, but arguably enhance the look of the car.

For 5 minutes of effort, you could get it done. Provided with a printout of THEIR listing, I don't know why they wouldn't honor it.

Not to add flames to the fire ..... but if the advert stated "performance and tire package", you probably didn't get any of the other parts that came with that package.
Near as I can tell, the only model that automatically included the 20in wheels/tires was the sport model. It cost about $4,500 and it included: sport brakes, sport seats, aluminum pedals, Bose 16 speaker surround sound stereo, stitched dash cover, and the S badge on the trunk lid. If your car is NOT a Q70-S, then the wheels/tires were done as an "accessory" option and cost about $500 extra when the dealer ordered / accepted the car from Infiniti Japan. It only added the wheels - none of the other upgrades from the S model were included.
There is a link online where you can enter the VIN of your car and see the actual window sticker. You need to register with your Email, but no charges, no downloads, no spam.

Lars is 100% correct!

If they based the price off a sport model then the price is a huge difference. Did the advertise your car as a sport model?

If no then you might be ok but you still need to verify that the other packages are on the car.

Quickest way is the steering wheel and on the lower left side of the dash. I hope someone will post some pics for you..

Good luck

Andy

Before you go in guns blazing, confirm some info. For 2015 the Q70L "performance wheel and tire package" was just the 20-inch split 5 spoke wheels, 245/40/20 tires... AND the Akebono sport brakes.(those are the big silver ones that say "Infiniti" on them)

They might have just copy-pasted the original specs of the car, which happens to humans. If you don't have the original window sticker, I'd do as Larz advised - spend around $10 for that Monroney label that will tell you exactly what your car (and VIN) came with for options.

However, zooming in at the imgur album you provided of your car, https://m.imgur.com/a/1bFfzGv, I can see that you have the Akebono brakes. Your wheels are from a standard Q70L alright, but something must have been manipulated for you to receive it like that. The factory certainly did not typically provide those brakes with 18" wheels on the M/Q70.
So someone either installed the brakes or switched the wheels.

It's just a matter of finding out who did it - previous owner or dealership.
[Hmmm, I wonder if they used wheel spacers or if those 18s clear the brakes naturally.]

18's with the right offset cleats the big brakes just fine with no spacers. Ok,I hope I just preferred my winter wheels and tires, multiple dealers assured me that they will fit just fine.

Stay tuned
