Hey y'all! I'm new to the forum and the owner of a new 2016 Nissan Rogue SL (magnetic black). I'm loving my new ride, but I have a few newbie questions:

1. I noticed an option in the settings menu called "welcome light". On my wife's pathfinder, the welcome light turns on the cabin lights as you approach the vehicle with your smart key. My Rogue doesn't seem to do this. What exactly is the "welcome light" in the Rogue's settings and is there a way to configure the Rogue to turn on the cabin lights as I approach?

2. I've been contemplating adding the illuminated kick plates. Does anyone have a picture of theirs? I've only seen the stock image one on the Nissan website. How do you like yours?

3. Any way to let down the windows by holding the unlock button? I tried it but nothing happens. Is that even doable on the Rogue?

4. I thought that the power liftgate on the '16 SL was motion activated. I, for the life of me, can't seem to make it work no matter how I swipe my foot. Is this an included feature of the SL or an added option?

Thanks in advance from Jackson, Mississippi.

Welcome to the forum. In regards to your questions:

1) AFAIK,the welcome light is activated when you approach the car and unlock it with the key fob or button on the door handle.

2) Looking at installing these but pretty pretty expensive from the dealer.

3) Not available on the Rogue.

4) The power liftgate is only activated by the keyfob.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the response! So it looks like the welcome light can only be activated by a button and not by proximity. I read on the Infiniti forums that proximity sensing for older models had to be reactivated if not used for 14 days. I was surely hoping that something similar could be done with the Rogue.

I installed the illuminated kick plates on my 2009 Rogue and think they are sweet! They are $200 from Nissan; I bought mine for like $150 in 2012 so I don't think $200 is too bad. I'm sure they will come down in price in a couple years.
They are very easy to install as long as you are comfortable working on your car. The instructions that come with it walk you through it step by step.

For your other questions have you looked over your owners manual?

I'm actually looking at the owner's manual now. It really doesn't say anything in detail about the welcome light. As for the motion activated liftgate, it says "if equipped" so I'm guessing it is an added option (although I would've thought that the Premium Package I got would've had it). No mention in the manual about operating the windows with the remote so it must not be possible.

Hello I have a 2015 AWD SL Premuim Pkg Rogue and the kick-plate install was very easy. Did it in 1 hour with the accessory harness sold by Nissan. As for the power lift gate I can open mine from the keyfob or the button on the outside hand hold with a push of the button. If you have the power windows with automatic down you should be able to use the mechanical key to lower the window or Windows by turning the key as directed in the owners manual. Enjoy your ride and hope this helps. Ken
