Hello! First I'd like to say hello, I'm new here:)I got few questions about vk45de, from 2002 q45 - I bought this engine to swap it into S13 180sx. It will be connected with nissan 350z/infiniti g35 6spd MT. I still don't know which computer I should use - stock or SA. Plan - put engine in, make some custom headers and intake manifold with stock or some performance throttle. Aiming about 380 hp. So..In case of using stock computer:-Could any problem appear if electronic throttle will be removed? Could it be repaird by reflash?-Can stock computer go with 6 speed MT from Z33? I guess - no, but maybe I'm wrong. In case of using Stand alone unit.-what is crank pattern in this engine? Guy from Omex performance ask me about that, he need to know this to prepare standalone unit for me. In my opinion it'll be necessary if I use MT trnasmission.-Is engine harness specific for q45 or it's similiara/same as in 350Z/G35? VK is based on VQ, so I'm asking.Asking about those things beacouse engine isn't yet on workshop, it's sailing to me. In Europe latest q45 is very rare. I've asked nissan dealer who also provide parts for infinitis - they don't know enything about engine, especially about electronic.. so do I.Please be good to new one:) If I post i wrong section of board, please move topic to proper one. And sorry for my english, it isn't excellent.Best regards.Adam:)

Think this post needs to be in the VK/VH Forum.

1-8-7-3-6-5-4-2 is the crank order on the VK/VH.

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

If you READ the posts and topics in this section, ALL your questions have been adressed. You could use the SEARCH button, or do what I did, and read through every post in the section, going back a year or so, and WOW, there is a $hitload of info in this forum. You can even get all your wiring done through the wiring posts ( i did). Congrads on joining us in making what Nissan should have done. To help a little, Stock computer(VH) is a good computer to use, and after you read what others are doing and have done, you will see that most people are using it, a few are stand alone, but it all comes down to the budget.Welcome, and if you can find a topic yet to be discussed, open it up

You can't accurately compare the VH's ECM to the VK's being that almost all the VH computers work with OBD I chip sets and the the 96+ Nissan computers are all OBD II. OBD I is a much more flexible system to use for tuning and reflashes.

But yes, the search function will yield answers to all your questions, I just had the firing order in my head for some odd reason.

I've tried, but this forum is bigger then biggest Polish board about tuning, streetracing, drifting and drag It wasn't easy, or I gave up to early.180sx stock cluster probably will be useless. Maybe q45/m45 could be used. If it's impossible I'll be forced to use some gauges like defi, autometer or somthing.@: Craigztoyz How can ECU with ODB I goes with engine normally equipped ODB II ECU? Maybe I missunderstood You. If no please explain it to me.

If it were me and this was just a car built for fun I would make a new intake and mount a carb on it. Then run a distributor off the end of the cam. There are pics here posted by mettler of vh's running this setup. Search and ye shall find.
