The other day I go to replacing some busted and rotten vac lines on my carb and noticed one thing. This plug:

and I found the, what I think anyway, harness for it although the female connector has been cut off and the wires are just, there.

Its not been plugged in the whole time I`ve had the truck, about a month or so. What does it do? And would I be correct in assuming that the cut off wires in that harness belong to that plug on the side of the carb?
And now for my other question. The bottom vac hose on this thermal valve was pretty rotten so I decided to replace it. Come to find out there was a "something" in the vac tube that resembled some sort of reducer? Anyways the one I put back on there doesn`t have one and now when the engine is running, a slight rev like going through the gears, I hear a flutter sound that wasn`t there before I started all this vac line swap/change. I don`t think one popped off when I put the breather back on although its possible. Anyways, do I need that reducer looking thing in that line if I plan on using it or should I just plug it and forget it?

BTW, the truck is an `85 720 5 spd Z24 if that helps. Thanks.

As far as the little brass beads inside the vacuum lines, well I did replace them when I redid my vac lines and it runs fine. It's hard to believe they would make a huge difference, but then again . . . . ?

My 86 truck is completely stock. Here's what I can tell you about the electrical clip.
The wiring is bundled as a larger cable going to the female plug. The male connection has a few small wires which feed back into the same bundle.

There are 2 male tabs on the carb side and a rubber boot covers the female side clips.

I`m thinking maybe a vac line came off when I replaced the air filter lol I mean, I didn`t leave anything undone. I replced 1 line at the time so as not to lose track of where they went lol.

As for the plug on the side of the carb, what is its purpose? I believe my loose wires to be the same as yours, I`m just minus the female plug. I could probably make a plug BUT which wire would go where? If you could, could you tell me which color went where on your carb? Please :D and thanks

okay, this oughta be worth a laugh or 3. I thinks I figured the "flutter" issue out. It seems I didn`t tighten the nut down on the breather too well and when the engine got into a certain rpm range it`d vibrate the breather nut sonically and therefore sound as if it were fluttering lol.

But now onto the plug part. Just not sure which wire goes to which plug, just gonna go for it. They both seem "hot" when I touch `em to the plugs on the carb although one combo seemed to bring the idle down just a smidge. Here`s the combo I went with: One wire is white/black and the other is black/red. W/B went on the horizontal plug while I put the B/R on the vertical one. We`ll see how it goes.

I was able to find 2 clips to connect these up. Not sure what they do but they`re doing it lol
