I know that the Z roadster is heavier and i think in may have a softer suspension than the coupe, but will i be able to achieve relatively the same performance from the roadster as the coupe? Would getting the coupe instead be that much of an advantage performance wise over the roadster?

The Roadsters supension is the same as the Coupe.

It <is> a little heavier., but it wont make ahuge diferent in performance .

The buttdyno wouldnt be able to tell.

Getting a Coupe saves a little weight and a lot of money..

But then there are purists that feel a true sports car has to be open top anyway.....

So its really up to your preference..

Certainly in summer a Roadster would be so much fun...

Hey Fred howre you? I see what your saying i think i would get the vert just because im huge on convertables not because i feel a true sports car is topless. I dont really know if im going to go roadster or coupe but im open to both. Hows your Z holding up? Heard it had some issues on one of your posts.

GTR: Doing well.About the Roadster, talked my Boss into buying one and he loves it.

If you like topless the 350Z Raodster has the looks of an exotic car w/o the pricetag and more reliability than exotics..

Except for the unsmooth idling I had for a while, all my problems ( such as they were) were caused by my Mods..

I now have 34,000 miles on the car almsot 20,000 of which were on supercharger.Stock Clutch/Trannty holding up like a champ.

Car is still considered <hot> by the public despite being out for nearly 3 years.

This bodes well.

If you are into verts, the roadster is the car for you. It is the ultimate in convertables, IMO. Its a blast to drive with the top down. Just operating that very sophisticated top is fun to do. I have opened many of them and still am intriqued by its operation. Maybe because I know what makes it tick..lol Still for me driving the roadster is much more fun then the coupe.

Coming from someone who (actually my dad, but who cares) spent extra for the covertible, I say if you like it get it. I personally don't like how the Z roadster looks, but in the summer you'll be gald you go the roadster. Also I'm not sure if it's an option but if it is, get heated seats. It's pretty sweet to be riding top down when its 35 degrees and not be cold.

But also take note. In the M3, when the top is up there is a much larger blind spot then there would be in the coupe. Judging from the looks of the Z, it seems to be the same way. Just something to consider if you're going to plan on riding top up a lot of the time.
