Okay, the old Nissan is needing some service work done. I have not been faithful in my oil changes. I have it done regularly, but not on schedule.
Anyway, I am taking it to Pepboys for some extensive maintenance. I am considering a few extra service options and need some input.
1. A complete "gumout" engine flush.
2. Fuel and induction system cleaning.
3. Transmission fluid exchange (flush).
Then the basics, tune-up, filter replacements, PCV, etc.
My question is this....are these good ideas (1-3)?
My engine was replaced 35,000 miles ago. The engine had "under 60,000 miles", when I bought it used. The transmission is original (approx. 130,000 miles). As far as I know the transmission has never been flushed.
I have heard that flushing the engine and/or transmission can cause problems.
So my question is, has anyone else heard of problems from having this work done? Has anyone experienced a problem from this type of service?
Also I am looking at getting the energy suspension master kit for my Nissan. The kit is a reasonable $135.00! Has anyone else bought polyurethane bushings for their 240? If so what are your thoughts on the kit?
