I just bought a 95 240sx and before owning my WRX i had a 91 300zx. The 240sx is in great condition but in the next few weeks im going to be taken it apart and sell the misc parts. When im reading about the cost of and Rb26dett swap and how much it costs. Is the 10k with parts and labor or just parts? Im going to be doing a swap but im looking in to costs before anything. SR seems nice but i dont want a Turbo 4 cyl even though it is alot cheaper. Also i already own a turbo 4 cyl with a couple of things done to it. Thanks for the answers.

Ok so its about 10k with just parts. Doesnt seem worth it really but we will see what happens. Im going to talk to a couple of freinds and shops in Jacksonville, FL and see what i can do with that car. My friend told me to put a LS2 in it but he is a GM freak.

Where are you planing on getting the job done? There are a couple of rb's here in jax, from couple of 20's (myself included) to 25 and that I know of 1 26 so far.

I most likely going to do it myself with some friends. Also my good friends Uncle works at Nissan and he has worked on the RB series. Im thinking Speedfab because Tracy does amazing custom work. I could probaly get mounts made for alot cheaper than McCinney or whatever they are called. I know Stage 6 does some good work ( twin turbo Ford GT ) but i dont like some of the guys up there ( made fun of me for wanting me to upgrade things on my 300zx ) so yah. I dont yet that why im going to look around and talk to some peeps.

Thank you. I hope you are being serious I have been looking online for a RB26dett motor and the RB25det transmission is going to be around $5000.00. I was reading* a post on here about using a 300zx transmission on the RB25det. The thing is, it didnt really say how to do it in detail and what other mods you need to do this. Also, it would be nice if i could hook a 300zx transmission up to an RB26dett. Im going to try to find someone in Jax. if it possible to do with the 26, if so its game over. I dont mind spending 3k on the motor but the other 2k for a transmission dont think so. Can get a 300zx TT transmission for like 300 bucks at the most.

im being totally serious. ask anyone here, everyone interested in the 26 is like 15 and just got done watching the trilogy, and all of the sudden all of the suburbs have drift offs in the culdesacs. so sad.

its nice to see someone actually being well intelligent and looking for a legitimate answer to a legitimate question. cant wait to see some pics. good luck again!and abotu the trans, not 100 % but i think there was a writeup about using the 300z trans, but i cant remember what specifically for (20 25 or 26) someone chime in and verify?

you will need a adaptor plate or the bellhousing off of a rb25(not 100% pos). the shifter will sit back further then stock.

Yeah the one that i was talking about was for the RB25det. So like i said im hoping to find out if can do this. If it becomes a ***** to do a RB swap i might just stick with the SR ( but i dont want to ). Also while i get the chance. I was looking at single vs twin. I see alot of sick cars with single setups. But i belive that sometimes a motor is the way it is because the company feels that it is the best for motor, so im thinking that i would stay with the twin setup. But with having two of something means double the trouble if anything goes wrong. What is anyones opinion about this?

Imo i like twin setup's but for the cost to have it makes single a more desirable option. less piping to have made up keeps money in your pocket. you can get one big nasty garrett for less then two. plus other reasons why a single may be better then twins that someone else may know.

single is much less of a headache not only for exhaust, but also for the oil/coolant lines that you are running to the turbos. A smaller ball bearing single can also have the capability to spool equally as quick as the stock twins and produce more hp. Personally I am going with a GT35R and am looking for about 475-500whp. It will have more lag than stock, but still be extremely responsive.

Love the car man....that twin setup looks very nicely made. I already have enough of a headache with putting this motor in my car....otherwise a sweet twin setup like that would be awesome.
