I've had my motorset swap for a little while now, but finally got around to working on it. Upon starting to install my Rocker Arm Stoppers I came across this after removing the Cam Shaft hold downs:

And then this is what the bottom of the hold downs look like:

And these two images show the comparison between the intake and exhaust side:

Almost all the Cam Shaft hold downs on the intake cam are starting to look like this. Upon re-install, decided to try turn the crank over by hand to see if it would move and it turns quite easily. Clearly signs of oil starvation, but my questions are do you think my bottom end is ok? Ex. Rod Bearings, etc.

And do you guys think my head is salvagable using a new set of cam shafts? We haven't had a chance to completely remove the camshafts yet to see the extent of the damage to the head where the camshafts sit. I will try to get pics when the camshafts are removed to see if there is any damage, but what are your guys opinions so far?

Keep in mind this swap has never been installed yet.

Thanks in advance.

-Chris

damn thats pretty bad. it is probably safe to say that your bottom end is toast or on the way to being toast.

to fix that damage you can get your cam journals line bored. although with damage that deep i recommend getting new cam caps and then having them line bored just so you don't have to shave the caps down any more than you have to. (cam caps are head specific and can not just be swapped around without machine work)

its probably safe to assume that your cam journal on the head is ****ed as well. a good head shop can weld that up with new metal and then bore it.

not many shops can line bore/hone cam journals. i am having that done on a head soon and here is the shop that i am using:

Probably cheaper to buy a used head then getting that fixed. I think there is some guy on the board selling one right now.

depends. a line bore typically costs 75 per cam.
