Just bought me a coupe for $400, still has the sohc...not sure if it will crank (no transmission yet), but either way, I will be getting a dohc...

Here are some questions I have before I start building up a KA-T...

* Are the cheapie Ebay intercoolers okay to use?* Would sr20 370cc injectors be big enough (used along with 255lph pump and fpr)?* What is the best manifold to use?

Thanks for any help!

The cheapy intercoolers will be fine.Sr injectors are good enough, but only to ~250rwhpThe manifold you choose really depends on the type/size turbo you decide to run.

It's about time you decided to go KAT Brit

Any decent sized FMIC will work just fine unless your looking to brake 450WHP. Try to get one with 2.5inch In/Out ports.

There are a couple decent manifolds available for a good price. Boostdesigns makes a decent kit for a good price. Probably the best manifold for the money as well.

The 370's with a SAFCII will work well for a low boost application, say 8-9 lbs of boost. If you want to upgrade later you'll need a 300ZX MAF since the stock unit maxes out at 250WHP or so. The SAFCII lets you switch MAFS and upgrade injectors to a max of 550cc's.

You'll also want to think about something to retard the timing on boost. Your ok without any timing control unless you run more then 8lbs of boost. After that you'll need to retard the timing.

Well, depending on how much money I can save up, I can have the motor rebuilt for $1400...for now I'm aiming for about 250-260whp (plenty for a 2700lb car, at least for now)...I'm definitely gettin an SAFC or an E-manage, or something of that sort...and I want to run a T3/T4...

The best hybrid is a T3/TO4E in 50 trim with a .63 AR exhaust housing and a stage III wheel. Here's a good source.http://store.yahoo.com/cheaptu....html

the 370cc injectors will get you to your goal, but i personally suggest getting 480cc injectors or higher. Its nice to have that extra room to up the boost safely.

I would HIGHLY suggest the Emanage over the S-AFC II. You will have timing control at that point.

I second the E-manage for tuning, I feel its the most bang for your buck, next to stand alones. If they would have only done a little more R&D b4 they released there kit......

dont forget that we have a T25 flanged manifold at the shop. i know its not the T3 that you want, but you can use it temporarily until you can afford to upgrade.

The T25 manifold is very limiting to what turbo's you can run unless you want to spend quite a bit of money and buy a GTspec turbo. When it comes to a manifold, you don't want to settle for one you don't want and then buy a better one later. A different manifold would make you purchase new inate, hot pipe and downpipe plumbing. So not a very good suggestion.

The SAFC and the Emanage are both pretty nice piggy back system. I'd say the SAFC is easier to tune though.

Although the Emanage will help out on the timing end. I run a MSD BTM, which pulls all the timing I need out of the motor only when its on boost and I didn't have to do any tuning. The SAFCII combined with the MSD BTM is slightly cheaper while being easier to setup. The Emanage is a tad more but provides slightly more tuneability.

DOn't forget to consider alcohol/water injection as well. I recommend it to everyone who decides to go with forced induction.

I'm definitely considering alcohol injection in the long run...

I've also decided to go KA24ET...

I have another question...my boyfriend said that a problem I will probably run into will be the turbo and the downpipe rubbing against and/or heating & melting the brake resevoir...what would be the best way to over come this probelm without bottom-mounted the turbo? (I want a top-mount!)

This friend that is a boy is correct. You'll need a heat shield around your turbine housing and some thermo tech wrap around the downpipe. You can also make a shield or wrap the MBC.

I was wondering if any one knows if the T70 Turbo will work ok on the KA24DE with out blowing the engine up or melting the piston rings or any thing else that I might have forgotten.

You need to make a new thread to discuss any topic that isn't related to the main topic of this thread. IE your T70 question...
