Im looking into a set of coilover and ive been looking at the JIC SF-1. does anyone have them on their car? is it still a smooth ride or did it stiffen up? and any camber issues? and does anyone have a set they might want to sell me with low miles on them

thanks

Those are some nice looking wheels there. What are they and size and offset and all that other good stuff. But to answer your question I just lowered my car with the Tein springs and I'm quite happy. It lowered the car 2".

Youre car looks awesome, but it definately needs a drop. Thats some nasty wheel gap, but your **** is still super clean.

I'm kinda surprised to hear it's rough actually. I would have thought with the weight of the Q it would be smoother. Plus, IMO, the roads in MD are some of the nicest I've been on, and if it's rough there.... Maybe once you get a chance to play with settings you can dial in a good ride.

I was told it will be ruff, so I knew it won't be a smooth riding luxury car after the coilovers but I like it... it's still softer than my 350Z.I bought mine from Stillen, Shawn at Ext 122 sports car division.. give him a call and tell him Kevin Kim from Maryland told you about it.I work in Baltimore and D.C. the road in the city is a killer.

Insurance is a top notch Japanese brand, and they mainly cater to the luxury cars, so they are probably more tuned for comfort, whereas JIC is more of a sports / racing background. There should be no problems with the Insurance ones, very solid, reputable brand.

I can tell you that my wife is a total wimp when it comes to cars and she loves my Tein/KYB SR Specials combo, she thinks the car actually rides better which it does. When you hit a pothole that you didn't expect to for sure it is stiffer but overall the ride is improved by this combo. Onetongarage just posted some coilovers for sale, you should jump on them or go Tein/SR Specials route which will be a tad cheaper.

I hope it turns out good with a close to stock ride.

With my front lip, I could use the car as a snow plow!!

Honestly though, if I ever live in a place with snow again, I would have a 4x4 winter ride, like an old Bronco or Trooper II with meaty tires and a mild lift and then my Q would be parked on anything other than crystal clear and dry days.

There really isnt anything like getting in the Q on a cold snowy night. With the heated leather and confort, it's like sitting in your living room. You feel like you are in your own little world. Honestly, thats when I love the Q the most.

But kevin seriously, move to Milwaukee and I'll hire you to plow my driveway every snow fall.

Hey DaJuiceizLose. Like I said , I haven't touch the settings or the height, so it will get better, as far as the product it's top notch. stuff looks like it should be in a museum. I say do it if you got the $$, you'll love it.

I want to lower my Q a bit cuz my wheel gap is horrible. i can fit a Arizona 23.5oz can underneath under my car so the spring/strut combo might lower my car too much i have 20s with 275s in the rear and they will probobly rub, so im figuring i would have to do some hieght adjusment not to rub.

No, you'll probably just need to roll the fenders. What are your wheel width and offset numbers?

The only thing I ever do in the midwest is fly over it Your right, I live in the Bay Area (SF) and Falk lives in LA where i grew up. BTW, I have an 05' X-Terra for by ski needs, I'm with Kevin even here, lowering the Q for sure made it a bit more fragile in terms of how low it is, BUT, I don't ever even drive it in the rain now, that is what the X-Terra is for now.

i dont know what the offsets are. i bought them from some guy at work, they were on his G coupe, but fronts are 20x8.5 with 245s and the rears are 20x9.5 with 275s. im gonna have to ask him if he knows next time i see him. Im also not trying to have my car low enough to have to roll the fenders, just want to have like a 0.5-1 inch wheel gap, not over kill but noticable with a smooth ride
