what performance issues are you having? hose replacment is warranted if they are cracked/dry rotted/etc-just replacing hoses that are not faulty.....is just replacing hoses,it wont affect the drivability of the vehicle any more than brushing your teeth before starting the motor-just cost more

Yes they are "blow and replace" - if they blow you will likely be replacing your engine.

You seem to be unfamilaiar with the concept of preventative maintenence. May I recommend all of Q45tech's previous posts to you? It will save you beacoups dead presidents in the long run and enhance your performance to the maximum possible without a total race quality rebuild.

You need to make the pilgrimage to http://www.jerrytucker.net . You will be glad you did.

No man you will not have to replace your engine if you just pull over and shut the car off.. you got about 1-2 minutes of drivability until you get into ****... this has happened to me before and my motor ran fine until I sold the car two years later... I do my own maintenance. I replaced all of the radiator hoses + the vac lines this morning and replaced my fluids than checked for leaks… My question was that if it will help my car circulate the fluids better that I can feel a difference or it if doesn’t really matter as long as it runs. My Q only has 97000 miles I been taking care of her well so don’t start with me please!!! But thank you for the link!

the only way to replace" ALL of the water and vacuum hoses",is by removing the plenum, did you?

Obviously, it will run better if all of the vacuum lines are working properly. As far as feeling a difference, that's not really the point of preventative maintenence. So when it comes to water lines... assuming they aren't gummed up for some reason, there won't really be a performance difference until they break.

Please don't confuse that 1-2 minutes of driveability you mentioned with not doing any damage to your engine if you get into an overheat situation. You might get by with it for a few years after an incident, but to keep as-new performance, I would avoid any chance of overheating!

Just replace you Radiator hoses and your thermostat, while you are there drain as much coolant. Slap her together, and do it again after 100k.

Why do you want t o change the vacum lines? unless you have issues on the vacum hoses, then change. but if tiy MIL is not on and your car runs ok then why change something you don't have to.

Keeping the throttle body, plenum, IAC, EGR, and PCV system clean will make the most difference in performance.

And which gauge tells you that? The coolant gauge has too much lag. 2 miles at highway seeds is about 90 seconds too long.

Your engine may still run, but wear has accelerated. 97K on a VH is just approaching break-in on a well maintained one.

You asked, we were just trying to help. If you know the answers already, why ask?

Try Impul if you have many Yen. Don't know how you would retrfit an OBD I moter to an OBD II harness. 1994+ have the latest timing chain guide design.

Be nice to Maxnix, he's sensitive.

It would be a good idea to replace the radiator hoses as they are easy to replace and can damage the engine if they break.

I'd leave the vacuum hoses alone though, if you don't have a vacuum leak now then you have a better chance of creating one than preventing one by hose replacement.

I was being sarcastic, Maxnix is one of the most abrasive people I've known on the web.

The car just being broken in is a bit extreme but my 97 has 232K miles and feels brand new, no smoke, and no noticiable oil burning.

you should expect it to last for at least another 100K.

If you replaced the hoses and have no problems then you're good to go. Well done.
