- the mustache is held in place by 7 or 8 clips built into the mustache- you should be able to get it painted for pretty cheap (you'll get a different qoute from every shop you take them to)- the shop will most likely sand it before applying primer to it (you should hope they do, and even demand they do)- a body shop or a custom shop that does auto painting will be able to remove them and paint them without any trouble.- if you drop them off you should be able to pick them up the next day so long as they are painted the day you drop them off.Colton92 wrote:Hey guys I got some questions about the mustache. How do you remove it?How much did it cost for you to get it painted?Did you sand it or let the shop? What kind of shop would I take this to?How long does it take?
Mine was $60, local auto body/collision shop, they sanded, preppeed, etc, and I picked it up the next day.Colton92 wrote:Hey guys I got some questions about the mustache. How do you remove it?How much did it cost for you to get it painted?Did you sand it or let the shop? What kind of shop would I take this to?How long does it take?
Those prices are insane. Tell those shops to go to hell. Even with prep stuff you are talking about a job that is probably a total of 30 minutes to do. Add in some drying time ehre and there, but they can be doing something else and quick take care of the like 10 inch long pieces of plastic.{WBK}Viper wrote:I've been to 5 body shops....no one will do it for undre 175 and thats ifI take it off.
If they do the whole thing its 300 or more.
Where the heck do you guys find places for $30-60.
Probably a pretty good idea. I did mine myself, and it looked fine when it first was on. But now it looks like it is covered in glitter thats how bad the chipping is. Not quite sure what my next move is. I might just buy a new grill and put the silver pieces back on, or buy a different grill, havent really found anything I love yet though.Italianbulldog85 wrote:Here is my question....
WHAT IF... you get the 'stache painted then put that clear vinyl stuff on it to prevent it from chips... good idea? yes? no? maybe? I want to get the stillen lip because im afraid of the fascia getting all messed up in NY so I want to get that chrome stache out of there

i love this dude. Every time some1 brings up painting the mustache he mentions his great deal. If a thread has the word mustache, I look for you to say that.js08coupe wrote:
Only difference is mine was $32.00 and came with a bottle of touch up. Just ask around. Everybody will want a different amount.
