- the mustache is held in place by 7 or 8 clips built into the mustache- you should be able to get it painted for pretty cheap (you'll get a different qoute from every shop you take them to)- the shop will most likely sand it before applying primer to it (you should hope they do, and even demand they do)- a body shop or a custom shop that does auto painting will be able to remove them and paint them without any trouble.- if you drop them off you should be able to pick them up the next day so long as they are painted the day you drop them off.

Mine was $60, local auto body/collision shop, they sanded, preppeed, etc, and I picked it up the next day.

Most important part... How to take it off...

It was actually quite simple, there's another thread on here with lots of pics. Basically, It can be done by sticking a flathead screwdriver in the top of the gap between the honeycomb grill and the mustache piece. Start at the outside. VERY SLOWLY apply pressure and you will hear the clips popping out. The actual clips that hold it are in the inside middle of the piece, but you will see protrusions (sp) along the top.

BE VERY CAREFUL, as the grille plastic is pretty weak. USE A RAG! Even with a rag, I put a very small dent in it when I twisted the screwdriver head ninety degrees to pry it out. No one will see it, but I know it's there. Hope that helps, maybe someone else can post the link to that thread, as I gotta get off this hotel computer now.

Only difference is mine was $32.00 and came with a bottle of touch up. Just ask around. Everybody will want a different amount.

Those prices are insane. Tell those shops to go to hell. Even with prep stuff you are talking about a job that is probably a total of 30 minutes to do. Add in some drying time ehre and there, but they can be doing something else and quick take care of the like 10 inch long pieces of plastic.

Probably a pretty good idea. I did mine myself, and it looked fine when it first was on. But now it looks like it is covered in glitter thats how bad the chipping is. Not quite sure what my next move is. I might just buy a new grill and put the silver pieces back on, or buy a different grill, havent really found anything I love yet though.

Finally found a place....Woo Hoo.....

Got the stach painted for $70.

I had to take off my bumper myself to get the chrome off, whichI highly recommend rather than prying them off...It was damagingmy paint. I took them in in the morning and had them by endof day. I didn't put them on right away cuz the paint was a littlesoft and I didn't want to damage them.

I kept them in a cabinet for a week to harden and cure right. Thenput them on. Looks awesome.

If you do something to cover the stache (clear vinyl etc.) See if youcan find the real 3M stuff. A guy at a body shop said that the "clear bra" stuff is the high grade 3M film. He said a lot of people put that stuff on and it just peels off cuz it's not high enoughquality.

Don't know how solid that info is...but sounds good to me.

i love this dude. Every time some1 brings up painting the mustache he mentions his great deal. If a thread has the word mustache, I look for you to say that.

Had mine painted recently

Price was free or $900 (depending on how I look at it …long story)

The mustache was pretty easy to remove and reinstall.

I did mine myself....somewhat big mistake. Looks like its covered in glitter the paint is chipping off alot. One of these days Im gonna maybe buy an entirely new grill and get the silver parts painted/prepped professionally.
