I did just fine last year in my 96. All I did was throw on some studded snows on the rear and load up 9 old wheels and tires in the bed. I drove for a living the last two years in NY, I have driven more snow miles then some people drive in 5 years total. A 2wd truck is perfectly fine in the snow if set up right.

I used to ride around in mechanically perfect rot boxes but I got sick of junking good runners cause the frame separated. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't bought a car in New York in about 5 years. I always go south.

Buffalo huh? I feel your pain. You have that Lake Erie meets Lake Ontario thing going. Down by Canandaigua it's a valley with a bunch of fields, lots of snow drifts to watch for.

Ok, I stand corrected then. I say that bc Ive gotten stuck in the snow once with my 240 and last winter, my friends pickup was stuck for 30 mins with the bed full of snow. I saw even big semi's without the trailer and dumptrucks get stuck last year.. :gotme whatever

Snow is all about tires. You want skinny tires to cut through the snow down to the pavement. Overly wide tires make you float on the snow. Ever seen the tires on a WRC car when they drive in snow?

Tires and weight. Best designed snow tires on earth aren't good for anything if there's no weight over them.

With my Ranger, I built a wooden frame to hold sandbags at the rear of the bed. Throw a couple hundred pounds of sandbags in to give your snow tires some leverage and you should be fine.
