Ok I've heard alot about V8's going in 300z's and what not. So I was wondering to put a V8 in like a 1986 300zx youll need of course the v8 (which I have a few laying around from my racing days), custom bracket (do you have to custom build them or is there a company that makes them?), a custom drive line, and a transmission? What kind of transmission do they usually put in them TH350, 700r4? Im just pondering the idea on the 1986 I got. Anything else feel free to add. Thanks guys,Jr.

the V8 swap isn't as popular in the Z31, but it's been done, there are pic;s of an LT Z31 on AZ Zbums site http://www.az-zbum.com/modific...shtmlnot sure why you'd want an auto but the camaro T-5 is a pretty good fit, the yoke might even be the same on the driveshaft but you'll want to set the engine and trans back a bit to make room for the extra 2 cylindersand as far as I know no-one makes set back plates for the Z31, but shouldn't be much fab work

the camaro t5 barely holds up under the stock 305, but it is cheap and plentiful. if you plan on anything more than 350hp, i would stick with a th350, which can handle that power level. unless you have a big wallet and are willing to get a tko 500 or 600, i would stay away from the camaro or firebird t5.
