just got back from bennett infiniti in allentown pa, after getting a consult and power balance test performed. i've never gotten this done before, so i'm not sure if the results were what i expected. i'll let you guys decide if this sounds right. i told the service manager i wanted a copy of the printout and if it was possible to do the power balance test through all rpm's (a two man job). he wrote this down for the tech. as i was waiting he came in and said, running through the rpm's wasn't neccessary, the computer does this automatically. when it was done, the service manager told me everything looks fine, no codes, and all injectors were fine. i was very suprised, since i have the classic Q, 40-60 mph "burp" while cruising, which i figured would throw the---code 34---knock sensor. nothing. i'm almost positive they have never been changed,,,,,13+ years, and still functioning fine????? i spoke to the tech personally and he assured me that everything came back negative. the copy they gave me had this, i summerize;

----No DTC detectedPWR balance diag result OKreference datano.1 46rpmno.2 63 rpmno.3 57 rpmno.4 80rpmno.5 65rpmno.6 61 rpmno.7 55rpmno.8 63rpmbase datacmps-rpm(pos) 1126 rpmcoolan temps 179 degrees

work support self learning cont----97% R 96%monitorcmps-rpm(pos) 750rpma/f alpha-r 94%a/f alpha 95%coolan temp(s) 183 degreesO2S1 0.08v

thats all that was on the photocopy they gave me. make sense to anyone. anything seem out of wack. i'm planning on doing the plenum removal, and i've already purchased the KS'ers, still need to get the O2's.

any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks, jeff

coolant temp is proper.

there is some variance in rpm drop that wouldnt meet a new engines standards.the No 1 cylinder is a bit of an outlier, all others are pretty close.

Of course best to wait what Dennis has to say.

Fred..:)

How new is your radiator??? I may do a flush this spring with some CLR or something like that.....

Like Q45tech has said, the KS dont necessarily have to be bad enough for them to throw a code- to start decreasing power......

Yes, and I also thought that it may not throw a code EVERY time but only intermittently.

Nick

p.s. even so, i'd get them replaced at 13 years old.

the radiator is, i believe, original. i did a complete flush last spring, and used the orange dex-cool, along with the redline water wetter. the KS'ers will be replaced regardless since i have them sitting here already, (picked them up off ebay, thanks to wes' heads up). since i'll be doing the plenum soon, just want to make sure an injector(s) shouldn be replaced while it's all apart. thanksjeff

I'd ohm the injectors using the method Dennis suggests (check out Wes's plenum thread). Then decide if one needs replacing.

They look in the average normal range to me.

Sitting still idling test don't reflect the real world [except for idle and codes] as what most care about are cruising and WOT parameters, unfortunately you have to pay for the tech to take the car out and run test and log data..........another $100 and be sure you get 6 feet of Consult print out data. They will look at you as if you had 2 heads.

they looked at me like i had two heads when i asked them to just take it through the rpm's while in the service bay, let alone actually driving it!!!!!! thanks dennis, good to know that there isn't anything major wrong going into the upcoming plenum job!!jeff
