Question: Vibration when engine is running, in park.....

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a question. Is this normal when your car is parked and engine is running that you feel the car vibrating a little, while you are sitting in the drivers seat you feel your arms and body shake every three seconds. Is this normal? If so, why?

All my others cars, do not do this.

Thanks.

Hi,

Found this when searching for EX35 engine vibration... I'm feeling slight periodic vibrations on my EX35 as well, when the engine is running in park. No big deal, but I'm wondering if you found an answer to your question as to whether this is normal or not? It's a bit strange because the tachometer does not move at all...

I do not know what is causing your issue but my EX does not exhibit any engine vibration in park.

Neither does mine - timing issue - I'm sure your dealer can fix it easily!

Timing issue? Isn't this a computer controlled timing?

Wow... way to go, re-activating an old Thread!

Welcome to the Forum...

Mmmm... mine doesn't shiver/stutter in an idle state, either.

What year is yours? Is it still under Warranty?

Thanks! It's a 2008 EX35 Journey. I just bought it a week ago, but didn't pay attention to this "issue" till now. It's still under warranty and I'll have it checked at the dealer next time I do an oil change, but I thought that maybe it's a common thing (all cars have idle vibration to some extent, except for hybrids of course). What alerted me is that it's somewhat random and not as regular as with some other cars. It's much more noticeable when the engine is cold or warming-up, and more-or-less disappears after some driving (although I can still feel it if I turn off the music and pay attention). I've also read on some forums that this may have to do with the gas quality... I use premium, so this is probably not related.

Just to clarify -- this is something that is only noticeable when you really pay attention, but I'm still in the "nitpicking mode" since I bought this car a week ago an love every aspect of it.

BTW, I felt the same in MY10. It's very faint and you have to sit still and pay attention to feel it. My other vehicle, MY02 Odyssey also felt the same. It's not a constant vibration, I suspect it's occuring at a particular stroke (one of the ICPE)... But both my EX35 and my Ody is having the same thing. I dont recall having this in my other (now sold) '98 Accord though.
