Question to people who have ordered Sway Bars from top brand name companies such a Tanabe, Progress, Largus, Cusco etc.

My question is, when you ordered your sway bars, did it come with all the hardware/parts for installation such as the D brackets, endlinks, bushings, etc? Cause I just ordered a rear Tanabe sway bar a week ago, and I will receive them next week, and it cost me 280$ after taxes etc. . . What worries me is if I need to go and buy more stuff for completing the installation. If so, that will really piss me off.

I would call the store that I ordered the sway bar from, but they are closed, and I was just wondering if I could get some info on the subject before contacting them tomorrow?

Thanks in advance.

I think that all depends on where you get the product from. but at that price i would be pissed if i didnt get everything too.

Progress, yes. Tanabe should be the same too. If not, Tanabe sucks, so don't support them.

I installed a set of Tanabe swaybars a while ago and I don't remember them needing anything extra. They are made by Swift.

Alright thanks lot. Only problem I see is the fact that I have a base model S14, which never came with rear sway bars. . . So how the hell am I supposed to use the stock end links etc, if I don't have any?

I'm hoping to god you have a base model S14 too

Haha, don't remind me :| I don't know tho, I think doing the sway bar would be a good idea since I don't have any rear sways on.

It feels nice and responsive on turns when going about 40 km's, but once you hit the 70 km's range you should feel the body roll coming out of my car, it's definitely not pleasant. So hopefully these rear Tanabe sways should cancel most of that out.

But yeah, coil overs will be coming too. What would you recommend, getting a front tanabe sway bar (to complete the set), or just get coils? Cause if I install the rear tanabe's, i'll have stock sways in the front (which might upset the balance). But let me know what you think.

The coils will dramatically change the car...more than swaybars can dream of lol I'm running megan streets and I have no complaints...they've been awesome.

I don't have much body roll and I don't have swaybars in the rear...I dunno if I have them in the front either. I have a base SE too

Hmm, you don't have much body roll, but you're still having some roll to an extent. If you also had aftermarket front and rear sways on your coiled 240, i'm sure your 240 would handle amazingly

By the way, how much did you pay for your Megans? And where did you purchase it from (help would be greatly appreciated giving you and I live in the same province).

Thanks.

I don't feel much roll to be honest, handling wise it feels extremely solid. I paid $1220sh taxes in for brand new, I forgot what shop I ordered through.

Oh damn son! If you could remember the shop name, that would be greatly appreciated! By the way, does this shop only order Megan coil overs, or other brands too etc?

Damn, all this talk makes me want to get coilovers as soon as possible :P

yeah, it will totally change your car and youll appreciate it more. After owning my car for 2 years, that was the first mod I did, after that within a month I had a number of things done to my car lol 5spd etc

I was thinking of getting Tein but the ones I wanted were gonna be $1400-1600 and I heard good things about the megans

Wow, awesome. So what are your personal pro's and cons of the megan coilovers? And how was the stiffness change before and after the application of the megan coilevers?

Damn, thanks a lot for your input. If Megans that good, imagine how good the higher end brands are (Tein, Stance, etc). But from what you've said, Megan coilovers should be good enough. So which megans do you have exactly?

Thanks in advance.

dont get megan...better for the moneygo with dmax...on zilvia advertisers u can get them for 1000 shipped.on soft its nice and comfy, and set to hard u can use it for track....good for a daily.goes low too but not as low as PBM

anyways for sway....it all depends on ur driving style....lots of grip drivers just have a stiff sway in front and no rear sway in rear..drifters have both sway bars..aftermarket

but for me i like having a stiff sway bar in front and if ur base s14, get a stock rear sway bar from an SE.totally fine for ur driving style

Alright thanks for the advice. Seems like you know your fair share of coilover brands. Would you happen to know anything about KTS coilovers?

I've heard lots of bad stuff on them.

I doubt they'll last as long as OEM's.

I dunno...never heard much about them.

I'm still leaning towards the Stance LX coil overs.

When are you going to purchase them anyways? And I thought you wanted the GR+?

Kk, sounds like a plan. Once your done with all that, your car will finally be equal to my immaculate S14

Well I agree, my rear end might bounce a little, but at least I don't have any rust, or don't have any frame rail damages, or any squeaks/rattles, and lastly, I wouldn't want to strip my interior. . .

But anyways. . . Can you come tomorrow for the meet, if you catch my "drift". . .?

ARGHH I was just doing some searching on the Tanabe sway bars, and this is what I came across. . . The information i'm quoting below is pulled from their sway bar info page.

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/stabilizers/

"The Sustec Stabilizer bolts onto stock mounting locations and uses the factory endlinks and fitment for trouble free useage."

So wait, it doesn't specify it 100%, but from that sentence, it seems like it's saying it uses the factory endlinks that comes with your car (which my car doesn't have any, base model S14)...

"Anti-swaybars that have 'notches' on the swaybar mount, can exhibit a tendency to bend and snap factory endlinks after minimal use, therefore, if adjustment is absolutely necessary, reinforced adjustable endlinks are recommended for preload adjustment. "

WTF. . . Bend and snap factory endlinks?... Are they telling me I have to go and buy an adjustable endlink?

"Most Sustec Stabilizer kits include replacement bushings that will accomodate for the specially sized Sustec Stabilizer."

Wait so, it comes with bushings, but I don't see anything about endlinks. . . So are you telling me I have to go shell out another $50.00+ dollars on aftermarket endlinks to get this things installed?

Oh man, please, someone tell me tanabe's includes everything for an installation on a base model S14. . .

Wait are you sure about that? I have a 97' SE and I looked under my car the other day and I'm pretty sure I have front and rear sways...
