the difference with having it and without is minimal and you won't really notice it from what ive read. it'll also take more effort to steer apparently.

wouldnt do it tbh

ac unit? yeah pretty much the same. unless you're building a track car, there's really no sense in removing all these things for minute gains of power

I really think that if you dis-conect the power steering your not really going to gain a lot of HP Now I have been told that If you dis-conect the A/C you probally gain about 2-3hp But do really want a car w/o A/C and P/S I know I would'nt not in FL. It's too HOT in FL not to have A/C Plus what would happen If you meet a Fine a** woman that wants to ride in you car she will leave you B/C you don't have A/C or a heater.

hp gain from disconnecting power steering is 2 at the most. same with the ac unit, perhaps slightly more.

waste of time removing those...you don't have track ripping power goin on..and you don't need the weight savings, be smart and enjoy the p/s and ac

Agreed guys. A/C is too nice...Thats why my RX7 still has it with the TII swap and its one of the few...I like a quick car and you can have that with the A/C As far as P/S, would a FWD be more awkward to drive with the P/S disconnected than a RWD car of similar weight? Sorry for the odd question but my B13 is my first FWD car ever.

i would think so since you have the axles and extra weight on the front wheels?

I drove my 1st 240 w/o ps and it was a pain...i stick with the p/s, love it, enjoy it

The answer is yes. The effect isn't huge. The same goes for AC, though the effect is larger. It has to do with the fact that both of these systems are powered by the engine. Less resistance on the engine = more power. That said, you don't really "gain" hp as you "release" what's already there to go towards moving the vehicle rather than moving the pumps for those accessories.

Simply turning the AC off has nearly the same effect, though without the weight loss benefit. Note that the AC on B15's is automatically on if your vent selector is on defrost, which since the vents never completely close, many people leave the selector in that position. The reason for this is twofold. One, your defroster is far more effective when it uses the drier air out of the AC, particularly when it's humid out. The other reason is that the AC needs to run every now and again to keep it lubed up, so the easiest solution is to have it linked to the defroster switch since that will actually get used some in the winter months where the AC would normally not see any use.

Weight loss from both is more significant. However, if you DD this car I would not suggest getting rid of either, particularly the AC in a warm climate.
