You weled front piece of s14 fender to s13 fender, right? Where's the best place to cut? Problem is it's not easy to match s13 line with s14's. I think #3 would work the best. Can you tell me what you did to make it look that good? I'm helping this conversion on my buddy's s13 and we will do this soon. I think first we will install hood, bumper and headlights and see where to cut on s13 & s14 fenders. If anyone has experience with this conversion, please help!!

I love popups and vert, and that's why I'm into 240 vert, so no front conversion for me.

if there is a little extra coin to be tossed around, I would recommend conversion fenders, unless you just like to do body work. But besides that, conversion fenders are way too common these days for this kinda thing.

/\ /\ /\ i agree with timeless, get conversion fenders, don't get the 30mm wide fenders with the side vent..like i did, it is a horrible fitment, i am doing it on my vert, and it sucks.just get the regular s13.4 conversion fendersgood luck.. tell ur friend to post some pic of his project

Do you have a link to this conversion fender? He doesn't want over fenders. He wants one that seats flush with the door.

I'd be careful with conversion fenders. I've been through three sets of s13.5 conversion fenders and all of them fit like crap. Now I rock steel ones and will never go back.

The cost to get conversion fenders to fit perfect would probably be the same as the cut-and-weld method you are talking about, and you would still have fiberglass fenders.

Metal > fiberglass IMO, and with fenders, the weight is almost identical between the two. If there is no need to fit wheels that require wider overfenders, I say stick with steel.

Maybe conversion fenders have improved in quality since I purchased mine. All 3 of mine had uneaven gaps where they met the doors, and had to be trimmed significantly just to get the door open. They also didn't line up to the headlights as snug as I like.

^^ That's not a gap. It sticks out like that. They designed it that way somehow. Yuri's(on zil***) two tone s13.4 has those conversion fenders and my friend doesn't like how they look. Masa Sports in Japan makes pretty good quality converion fenders, but they are expensive.

Yes, sci2000. I hear you. That's why my friend wants to fabricate instead of using conversion fenders. I'm going to find out fitment and quality on this one and see what's better.

The fenders I used on my vert were sourced from a friend in Japan who dismantles cars. These fenders are 100% steel with no cutting or welding. There was no stamping on them whatsoever so I am not sure of there origin?

I know the fiberglass conversion fenders fit like dookey as I have looked at quite a few over the past year or so and I feel the way to go is "cut and weld".

The other issue you will run into is how to mount the hood. I used S14 hood hinges and moved them back slightly by making new mounting holes in the cowl. This was the best way in my opinion as it looks the most "stock".

Let me know if you have further questions.

I don't know why I thought yours was cut and welded. Yeah, you mentioned that you got the fenders from Japan in this thread.

zer...age=2

These fenders might be same as yours. It looks like some company in Japan made metal s13.4 conversion fenders at some point.

Thanks for your tip. I'll keep in mind.

This is Yuri's car. I don't like the bulge.

If you find a source for metal conversion fenders be sure to post it up!

hello! i have quite a bit experience with this. i use s14 oem kouki fenders metal trimmed slightly at the bottom, they bulge out a lil like the bmagic ones.metal are better in my opinion because the fenders have these little brackets inside where headlights mount to on both sides.if this break in ur fiberglass fenders it sux ***, because ur whole front end dropsheres an example: in that pic im using s14 2omm origin overfenders, but the brackets got broken very easily w/in the first month so headlights are sagging and body lines are off around corner lights.this pic shows how the 20mm fiberglas fenders looked meeting the door, i likt the look and there were absolutely no clearence issues, bc fender bulges and is hollow(unlike bmagic which are solid but bulge just like this)

hers what it looks like now with oem s14 kouki metal fender trimmed slightly by door(skirts cover up incisions)

the cool thing about using the metal ones too is u can slightly pull on them a lil wen mounting(self tapping screwed)and pull alot of the buldge out and make almost 100 % flush, lmk what u guys think.

im putting this front on my new coupe, vert is being parted at the moment. im buying new matching uras kit too and diff wheels. all the werk on this car was done by me btw

#1 would be best place to cut and weld or even a lil further back towards fender and door meeting place. u jsut need a little slice of the s13 fender around there for door to fender flushness, and u could weld on mostly s14 fender. im gonna either do this or get sum from raceonusa.com

There's lip on the front bumper support and it looks like I have to cut to fit s14 bumper. Is that right?

s13 fender doesn't line up at all with s14 hood near hood hinge area. There's like an inch gap. We will go with conversion fenders.

Had a chance to take some pics of my buddy's car. He used eBay conversion fenders. They look good from the distance, but doesn't look good up close. He's still looking for JDM conversion fenders from Masa Motorsports. Note that there's some good stuff on this car like clear s14 kouki headlights, side markers & signals, super rare front lip, fog lights and a grill.

This is with my DD Mazda 3. Vert looks small.

Yup! As a matter of fact, they are on the way. He already got 4-lug 18 inch wheels and is trying to buy Tein coilovers.

Yuris my bff!

he designed them, they are the only ones. they will never go into production. they now reside in a secret location somewhere i cant tell you where. probably wont be seen for years along with the car. That wheel sat in his apartment for probably about 2 years before they were mounted up on his car.
