I saw something on a spike tv show, hp tv i think. I don't know what it's called or where it's done, but the guy put some putty type stuff in the door and it stopped the humming noise coming in through the door while driving. Anyone know what this is or where it's done?

Dynomat? or some spray equivalent im guessing. It helps "deaden" certain areas throughout the car, such as trunk and doors, can be found many places, eBay, audio stores, etc. Ive never used it but ive heard great things about doing this.
