Anyone from ohio knows about the crap we go through with our emmission laws. Ok, not as bad as CA, but bad enough. I have just gotten my first Nissan, I have been a honda guy for years. I have gotten tired of being grouped with the idiots with their "noise makers" and wheels. Neway, the first thing on my list of things to do is a SR20DET swap of course. My question is for those of you that have done it, did you pass the e-check, or if you didn't, how did you get around it. I am going to do this swap, but it would really suck to get it done and then not be able to drive my car because I can't get plates on it. I have seen one guy with it and his plates so I know there is a way. I saw him before I had thoughts of a bad a$$ nissan sitting in the garage though. Thank you for all the help, and I just want to say that this seems to be the most informative message board I have ever seen!

I heard that it passes the sniffer(tailpipe) test. That's all we have in Cleveland so i'm not that worried since they don't check the engine.

Thanks T_love. That's basically what I needed to know. That is the test that we have down here. I guess that I will just have to see what happens. I am going to order my front clip from Enjuku in the next couple of days. It is kinda sad, all the time that I have spent building up my hondas, and I have never gotten this kinda HP gain for this little money...(Everything is relative I guess.)

E-check shouldn't be too much of a problem, you'll need to have a good cat on it and it wouldn't hurt to have a fuel controller just incase you need to lean out the mixture on the low end. E-check isn't too bad, esp when my boy got his diesel rabbit to pass.-James

Ohio E-check is an absolute JOKE!! All it is, is a car tax. I passed with my SR and no cat!! I passed in the top 90 % too the guy said. It is just another way for the state to make money. You will have no problem unless there is actually a problem with the engine itself.

yeah and they are what 375,000$ delinquent on there property taxes !! ive seen trucks blowing out clouds of smoke and they still pass, and if you spend 300$ in modifications and still fail it theyll just hand you a certificate that says you pass!
