just making sure my ducks are in a row. when you do solid lifters you have to check the valve lash all the time huh? we have to do it on my friends mustang all the time. like daily. just wondering. planning on going with an aggressive cam so i cam just checking to see what i am getting into..

thanksryan

if done correctly, valve lash would only need to be checked at regular intervals (don't know what off hand, but x,xxx or xx,xxx km or mi or w/e). something MUST be wrong with that stang to need lash adjustment daily ? unless thats some crazy aftermarket thing?

it has a very very aggressive cam and we are still trying to find out the proper spring rates.

Yes, it will need checked regularly. My dad adjusted the lash on his old pickup about every third oil change. If the motor is setup properly, it doen't require a WHOLE lot of maintenence...

I would find out how regularly guys on sportbikes do lash adjustments. A GSXR1100 and CA18DET probably get the same beating.

Interestingly enough, the R32 GTR factory workshop manual doesn't specify the service interval for the lifter clearances. I guess if they are done right, and nothing bends or wears, then they ought to last 100,000kms.
