Insanely fast if this is a real video. Must be a SR:

If that link doesn't work go here:

http://www.lsauto.com/guages.asp and click on the demo for the video.

They have installed the new speedo and apparently are doing about 165 before he pushes in the clutch or the speedo kicks in. Has anyone bought this gauge? I like how it looks stock, but $150 seems awefully steep.

it looks like the speedo is hooked to the tach signal or something, definitely doesn't look real

Maybe it's kmh and not mph, anyway i've seen camaros go faster then that,i really don't see the point of that much speed,i'm more about fast acceleration and then sloe down when i've had enough. :D

The video seems pretty believable to me. Then again, I'm also swayed by Conspiracy Theories and other leftist propaganda... :rolleyes

In all seriousness though, with the right aero package I'm sure the 240SX could go 150 with relative stability. My 87 Starion at ~8-10psi did 120-130 back when I did stupid things on public roads. Although, the 5 was pretty open at that point...

The Starion had a stock suspension, but with the air-dam and those cheesy aerodynamics.. it was pretty stable.

With regards to the temperature issue, the car could maintain pretty normal temp if they were just accelerating from ~80mph and up to about 150. The big temp spikes come at WOT, without adequete intake / oil cooling.

As a sidenote, has anyone noticed at that 100+ on wide open (4 lanes or so) free/highways... that the reflections of the reflectors going past the perepherey <sp?> vision sort of make it look like Star Wars? Especially when you change lanes, and the whole strip moves like one long ribbon?

My buddies SR powered s13 goes 148 without much shake at all and he has sh@t rated tires on the front. He could definately go faster but without tires he won't try it yet. Now that he has a t67 he will be rediculous too.

hey, going 100+ mph isn't really that hard. The fastest I have driven is 140 in Ruf Turbo R and I was only in 4th gear the only other car I have done that with was a Lexus GS400. The fastest I have ever been going in a car was around 170(my girlfriend's dad has a very well modified Porsche 930. He took me for a spin one day...)

The one interesting thing about going that fast is that you literaly see things in fast forward. You want to know what its like going that fast? video tape yourself going about 60 in a 40mph zone and then look at it in FF. its really cool, but dangerous none the less.

I wrote an email to LS about this question I had. He replied and said

"That is a real action shot in the car and the car is sr20det powered. "

So apparently the SR20det can do over 150 or they fooled around with a rev limiter. Anyway, thanks for your input.

I just watched Option volume 93 last night. There was a SR powered zenki s14 (tuned of course) that did a max of 320 km/h, which roughly equals 199 mph.

I topped my Supra out at 155 mph when racing a WRX, thats about the fastest I've ever been, other then a plane of course. The problem was braking after that speed....not fun.

Yeah, slowing down from high speeds like that definitely something you want to do gradually when possible. I remember on the high speed runs I used to do, I'd just toss the car into neutral and literally coast for a mile or so to slow down to the ~50mph exit speed to get off the freeway.
