What's up guys..... Just read the camshaft mega-thread and some parts were a little vague. I have a question regarding the Tomei 260 procams. When using the poncams,(I think that's what they were called.) You are able to use your stock valve components, but when using the Procams, I've read that you should change out your valve springs. In the thread, some did not care for the Greddy valve springs. I'm planning on using the Greddy springs because I can pick them up at a good price. What else should I change out? Are the stock retainers good enough, or would you suggest replacing them also? If you were to run the Tomei 260 cams, what all would you guys change out? If you dont mind, can somebody tell me a little more about these cams. Thanks for the help....

The only cams that tomei have that aare called PONcams, are the 256's Deg.

All other Tomei Cams, are called PROcams.

All PROcams, require stiffer valve springs, because of the high lift they run - 12mm and upward.

The 260, are 12mm Lift, and are called PROcams. The need Valve springs.

I recomand not to mix and matcj springs and cams. The Tomei TYPE A springs, needed here, are not much more expensive than the GREDDY once, but are 100% compatible with the Tomei cams.

The Greddy Valve springs, besides having a bad reputation of braking, are not likely designed to work with such HIGH lift's, as the tomei have.

I siujest not to try to save here, and buy springs from whoever you get the cams.

I have the Tomei 260's with Tomei TYPE A springs, and BC Retainer (Becsue tomei dont make tem). They idle like Stock, and the car pulls like a train, at above 400RPM - all the way to the red line.

To tell the truth, i think the retainers are a waste of money - never really heard of a problem with a OEM retainer, and the simple fact that TOMEI dont make or recomand changing the OEM ones, speak for itsef.

Just make sure you get the right Intake Cam - if you have or dont have VVT.

Good luck !
