I just installed a KA24E throttle body onto my CA18DET and I have it all screwed in and hooked up minus the throttle position sensor. My question is should I use the TPS off of my CA, or use the one from my KA? If I use the KA one do I have to adjust anything special on it, or do any rewiring? Thanks guys

It shouldn't matter which tps sensor you use. I believe both are identical in operation.

IIRC either DE or E is the same and the other not but I forget which. from what I remember the one that is different looks different.. but this is just memory. If it looks the same as the CA one it should in theory work..

Just to be safe, I used my CA one when I upgraded to a KA24E tb.

I'd use the CA if you've got it, otherwise, I think the E is OK.

does changing the throttle body out make that much of a difference?

It flows way more air. If you look at the size if the butterfly on on the CA TB, and the KA TB, it's quite evident what the difference is.

Ok, I just put my KA24E on, and the coolant hookups are on the top side of the throttle body, not the bottom. It fits and all, but one of the hookups sticks up way past the hood. Is there any way to rotate that or just bypass it? It seems like a totally useless thing to cool off, since it already gets cool air and doesn't generate heat.

Here is how your rotate these lines.

get yourself a torch, heat the area where the coolant metal line comes out, don't heat it in one area, keep the torch moving around, for few seconds then with a pliers, you can easly rotate the lines. Done it many times, works good. But make sure you don't put too much heat as you are heating aluminum and can crack or melt if too much heat is applied.

Thanks. To confirm, I'm heating up the nozzle half that's sticking up, which frees it up and lets it rotate/twist/bend/whatever down? Or am I just heating the problem nozzle up and bending that down?

the fittings are epoxyed into the housing. When you heat it up, you're allowing the epoxy to loosen up so that you can rotate the fitting inside the housing.

I cut em off the KA tb and plugged the ports up. No need for em unless you live where it freezes hard all winter long.

I cut the whole piece off the top so I could use it underneath the TB. It only took about 5 minutes with a saw and it looks good too.

I'll go melt the epoxy on them tonight and see if that works. Failing that it's hacksaw and plug time. I've started carbureted cars in sub-zero temperatures on a regular basis before, I think I can handle a non-heated TB on a CA. It does seem like a bit of a waste of space and hosing for an area where winter only hits for a mere four months.
