I have a 2010 Infiniti M35 with about 95,000 miles. It started leaking a little oil so I took it to the dealer. The dealer initially told me that the o-ring on the oil cooler needed to be replaced, then called back to say on this particular model, the o-ring itself could not be replaced - instead, the dealer would have to replace the entire oil cooler. He said this was the only Infiniti model of which he was aware that had this issue.

Does this sound accurate? It is a huge difference in price for the repairs. Thanks for any input. I really appreciate it!

Our cars have an inline oil cooler. It's a adapter sandwiched between the oil filter and the block. Lines from the engine coolant flow through this donut shaped adapter to cool the oil as it flows to the filter and back out. If it is just the I ring my all data shows the I ring alone is replaceable. Ask the dealer to put the original part back into your trunk and check before paying.
