Question Rear Bumper - license plate light

I picked up our new Versa and not sure about one thing. Right above the license plate are the lights for it but there is not cover over the whole thing. Is that right?

I don't think theres any real difference between the sedan and hatch as far as the license plate light goes. Mine has no cover on it and it has worked fine, so i believe thats its just the way it was built
