I have a 1997 240sx Kouki and I wanted to put a sequential turbo setup on it. Was curious as to how it would be done. If anyone could send a link or tell me what is required that would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you even have to ask what is required then I do not think you are ready for it. Boost on a seqential turbo setup is very hard to regulate since you are twin boosting the air charge. You can use one intake manifold going into one turbo then the exhaust gases out of the first turbo then goes into a second turbo and the compressed air goes from one turbo into the inlet of the other and that is a way of sequential turboing your car. Some people also use a twin turbo manifold and instead of combining the 2 air charges for volume you can push one compressed charge from one turbo into the next but with this method you have 2 cylinders spooling up both turbos. With the first method normally the first turbo or second turbo, cant remember now, is smaller than the other so that one spools up faster then the second larger one spools up later giving you high boost throughout the powerband. That is basically the concept as i know it but if i am wrong anyone feel free to correct me.

Ok...well I know exactly what is needed for any other sequential turbo setup. But I am clueless for an SR20. I know the essential pieces that would allow it to work but I have no clue the dimensions and allowance involved. I am a Drafter and have some "friends" in a machine shop so I think I might be alright in the manufacturing aspect of some pieces. I just have no clue where to start. How many bipass valves and exaust outlets, etc? I am starting from scratch

ca18, is that a sequential set up or is it just twin.......the turbos look JUST alike.

anyway......why bother with a sequential set up? the cost would be insane and it very well may not perform that much better than a moderatelly sized single turbo with other bolt-ons

Sequential turbos don't compound charge the air, they simply spool at different times, dictated by solenoid controlled valves (Supra), or in the RX7's case, a flapper valve.

in some cases they do compound charge air. In tractor pulls example, those diesel engines push up to 250 psi of boost and do it through 4-6 sequential turbos. Boost from one goes intot he second and then into the 3rd etc to compund charge the air to those pressures and with that much boost water is injected inbetween the turbos for intercooling to cool it all down. So sequential turbos can go both ways.
