Hi guys, since my antenna was stolen some people told me that it would be covered under the warranty. is it true?

ALSO: my 3 months is up and i went for a maintnance check-up they told me it costs $56 wtf is this true? if so whats the point of buying a warranty and such if I cant even get my car checked for free.

If your car was stolen would that be covered under warranty too The only way it would be covered under warranty is if you could prove that the antenna was faulty (like the base of the antenna was manufactured without any threads in it)Just pay the price and use some Loctite on it and call it a day!

1) Stolen items/parts are covered by your insurance, not your warranty. Since the cost of a replacement antenna is WAY less than your deductible, you're SOL... you've got to pay for it out of your own pocket.

2) Do not confuse "maintenance contract" with "extended warranty". They are two completely different things. If you bought an "extended warranty", you paid to have the factory warranty supplemented to a specific time/mileage. Warranties do not cover "consumable" items (gas, oil, filters, tires, etc.). A "maintenance contract" is basically pre-paying for all scheduled maintenance for a specific period of time.

PS - if your dealer is charging $56 for a "3-month checkup", it's time for a new dealer/service provider. A 3-month checkup is basically just an oil change. I can get a full synthetic oil change, wash, and 20 oz soda for less than that.

yes, you pay for all maintenance yourself.

No, you will not be charged for diagnostics if the car is under FACTORY warranty.

You MAY be charged for diagnostics (or a deductible, at least) during the period of an EXTENDED warranty, depeding on the plan you bought.

Vahagn,

I would read any contracts and agreements you signed and familiarize yourself with the details.

change the oil yourself, keep the receipts for oil and filter in a file. Elapsed time and hassle favours the home oil change by leaps and bounds. Only go to the dealer for the more major intervals. I write my home oil changes in the service book, mileage and date. Fred
