SO if I buy the Conversion KIT they sell ranges from $150-$200...is there another part I need? I'm seeing some info about having to purchase some other item here it is from the web site:

"Warn Spindle Nut Conversion Kit PN 29918 is required when replacing factory automatic hubs with manual hubs except for ADD" IF this is the case then it's the price of hubs plus a conversion KIT? I ask as I've read about all the posts and nobody states anything about adding an extra kit or steps to just swapping out the hubs... does that exta kit apply to 2001 SE or maybe only the electronic control version?

PETE

You do not need anything else than the 29091 warn hubs. They are referring to automatic hubs that comes on earlier pathfinders... The R50 platform 96-04 do not have automatic hub (or any for that matter). We have a direct flange connection with the diff. So the front half-shaft turns even when we are in 2wd (electronic version of not).

Just did this on Sunday...man was it ever easy and I lucked out by being able to use my stock studs for the Warn Hub body. Also great write up on this topic over at npora website. Took about 1.5 hours and that was me taking my time. Next step is to cut wheel cover caps to allow the freehub body to stick out a bit. It's amazing how much drag was on the wheel when it's attached to the drive shaft and how easy it spins now. Question is if I will see much of a MPG improvment with them installed.

I installed them on my Qx4.
I've gone through about 2.5 tanks worth of fuel... I didn't see anything significant.
My fuel economy has been varying around high 16's to high 17's.
The last 2 fillups with my Warn Hubs installed, I see the same numbers.

My driving style: quite light and gradual acceleration from stops (no significant engine grunt during acceleration)
My driving route: I drive 70mi to-and-from work M-F. Back country roads, 2-lane highway, speed limit is 55mph, maybe 10 stops along the way (stop sign and lights).
Fuel fill frequency: about 4-days

I've only gone thru one tank so far...I can tell that the front wheels roll better with less drag when I lift my foot off the pedal (basically I'm getting better coasting up to stop signs). My commute is hell with lots and lots of stop and go so far it appears to have a small gain perhaps 1-1.5 mpg. I need to do more tracking though.

I wanna believe!

hey donald, dont fret the MPG, its a very minimal gain, once you go through a CV axle change because of the torn boots, you'll see why you need warn hubs, But since you already got em, youll probably never have to find out :)

HA! correct even more important is preserving those CV boots. Add that to the savings. One question though. On my old 94 Nissan Pick up 4 x 4 they recommended engaging the hubs for a few miles every month. I would imagine the same goes here? Is that to keep the lube in the CV axles moving around? Is it necessary? I will probably do it anyway but just curious if anyone is doing that? I like the option of leaving it in 2wd and the holes I cut in the center caps look great with the hardware showing thru.
