I'm looking for a transmission oil cooler for my car. I had decided that I will go with the Hayden Rapid-cool transmission oil cooler series. The right application for the Q45 would be model# 677 (rated at 20,000 lbs GVW). For only $4 more I could get the model# 679 (30,000 lbs GVW, core size is twice as large). Is an overcooled transmission a bad thing?

I wish I could find the website again, but I remember these hot rodders taking .2 sec off their ¼ mile times by cooling the ATF From 176° F to 140° F.

In TX, difficult to have too much cooling. I am running B&M 70264 (24K GVW) on two of my Q45, and a B&M 70268 (18K GVW) on the other. Haven't measured temperature drops, though.

I might be concerned where I live when i dirve the car thru cold winters, but where you are (rarely gets below 50, if that) i wouldnt concern at all.

I don't know those numbers offhand but get the stacked plate kind, whatever you do. Much more efficient for the same size.

I used a Long brand cooler in between those two sizes - 7.75 by 11"

Long manufactures the Hayden coolers, BTW, as far as I can tell.

Incidentally, a larger one would be much harder to fit in a G50.

Not necessarily, depending where it is mounted. Actives don't have much room, though.

Thank you for the replies, guys! The largest one it is. Hayden Rapid-cool is the one that has plate design.

Probably in front of the condenser and radiator.
