I went to get my Q to see what else is needed while I do my suspension, they told me that my front pads are low and the rears will come soon. I've already had those rotors resurfaced 3 times and I was wondering if it's time to get new rotors. He's giving me a good deal. The labor will be $200.00 for all fours. I was just hoping that I didn't have to make the plunge for new rotors. So do I need to get new rotors?

How thick are they now? Assuming they took off .020 each time, you might be pretty close. You only have about .079 to remove before hitting minimum thickness allowed. Maybe they took off .012 each time, or .030. No sense guessing. Your guy should be able to measure the rotors once he gets the calipers off.

And just for a point: even though they may still be turnable one last time and within range, because they will now be so thin, they will warp faster. I did my wifes last year and turned them, they were within range, barely, and worked fine for about 6 months. Saturday I will be putting some Brembo OE replacement rotors on her car. Brembo OE replacements are great rotors and shouldn't cost more than like 50 a piece.

When you true them every 6,000 miles, you usually don't remove much more than 0.005" and coupled with average wear from braking rotors ought to last 40-50,000 miles.

Unfortunately measuring [and the MENTAL calculations] necessary to minimize the cut are too much for many, they overcut so they don't have to do it again and waste time.

For my 98 Q, Brembo OE's are 21 a piece front and 81 a piece rear. Can't beat that and can't beat Brembo quality.

I might not agree with the Brembo pad quality. Mine disintigrated after 5100. Of course this was for a different vehicle application BUT I'm sure it's the same pad material. Or maybe it's just a bad batch. I'll be weery of them in the future though for sure.

I was talking about the Rotors, and the prices I posted up were for rotors. I'd use Hawk, Performance Friction, Raybestos or OEM for pads.

I ordered my stuff with Joe yesterday and I went OEM with the pads and rotors. This should be the best way to get quiet performance. I hate noisy brakes. My 944T were the worst. Not only that, since I ordered alot of other stuff for the Q, I said what the hell, get everything together. Joe gave me top notch service. Thanks Joe.

I mean to quote louiegz instead of you after he asked about the pads. My bad. The quote button is in a different spot then some other forums I'm used to. :)

I've never had a problem with a brembo rotor.
