Hi, I have a 93' and saw a good deal on a set of 91' cams. My question is, how rough will these make the idle? Does the ecu need to be programmed for full benefit as well? As far as buying off ebay, how am I to know that they are actually not another year being passed off, (any part number stamped on the cam?). Thanks

Don't go through ebay for something like that. Just get it from PDM for 160 bucks. It could save you a lot of future trouble. 160 bucks isn't that much, seriously, so you couldn't be saving yourself much money by getting one off of ebay.

You only need the intake camshaft.

Oh and they wont affect your idle. Idle is only effected with high overlap camshafts. OEM camshafts are narrow overlap, short duration, and moderate lift. This gives a good idle, and a good midrange torque band.

If you opt for performance camshafts the key is to get enough overlap to preserve some idle characteristics but still give a wider powerband. The lift is raised to increase cylinder filling at higher rpms. The duration keeps the valve open longer to use the most out of each stroke of the motor for intake charge and exhaust disposal.

Are you sure its the intake? I heard that the exhaust cam is the one to go for

I've got the pdm racing cams and love em. Still has a smooth idle and much nicer power throughout the band.

What month 93 do you have? If its an early month secondary butterflied 93' then you have 240-248s and only the intake would be needed. If you have a later model 93 where they removed the butterflies you should have the wonderfull 232's...

"the changeover to deleted SCVs in late 93 also introduced the softer cams, IE if you have the actuator on the back of the head, you have 240/248 cams. If not, you've got 232/232. They make a cool wall ornament too when you get them out. "

Edit: another thing to think about is that the 248's arent the best for everyone.. 248-248 offer the most gain at 6k - 6.5k but loose the most lower as well. I guess if you are dragging / topped out mostly it could be cool.... Im trying out the 248/232 combo this friday (running 240-248 now) for my sunday auto-x as mid range is good... Might try a 248-240 next week depending.

Hey I was wondering if you got the stage II cams? I had a couple of ?'s.First thing do you have to get 16 new shims? or can you use some of your old ones? And how difficult are they to install? Did you really feel an increase from the cams? Thanks
