Hello,

I had upgraded my stock radio in my 08 altima coupe to a kenwood 5140 dnx and i have noticed ever since the upgrade my speakers dont put out as much bass now as before, im just wondering do i need to purchase new after market speakers to get the bass back, or an amp, or both?

and just another quick question, is the link to that dash kit in the FAQ an oem dash kit? I have a metra one in right now and it just looks alittle shabby because it doesnt match the vents above it and sticks out on the sides, I have manual climate controls by the way

Thank you

I have the Kenwood DNX 6140 which is the updated version to your system. I remember having a similar issue with my speakers when I first installed it. To fix it, all I did was modify the bass, treble, and EQ until it sounded right. It now sounds slightly better than it did with the original stereo. I do plan to eventually upgrade the speakers though.

As for the the dash kit, If you have the manual climate controls, like mine, this should work. It's what I'm using now.

well the reason why they don't sound as loud is that the factory speakers are 2ohm and your aftermarket head unit is 4ohm although some head units have been known to support 2ohm output. So those 2ohm speakers are only being fed with 4ohm power so it's like half the power.
