Ok I have decided that I'm going to get these 17" 6-spoke G35 wheels. Where/when/how much $$$ I do not know yet. My question is: Will these 6-spoke wheels bolt right on to my Q like Joe's 5-spoke he posted in the B/S/T forum? Also, are the wheels good enough to handle the Q (are they better than aftermarket wheels)? Also, what tire size should i be getting if i do buy these?

Thanks for the help guys.

Nick :)

It should fit fine with the current bolt pattern of the Q. A few weeks ago, I got a used set of the same wheels that came with Bridgestone Potenza RE92s for my J30t. The size of the tires were 225/50/17 which was perfect because if it was any wider, it would be rubbing against the strut (the strut is angled closer (or positioned closer) to the wheel than on the G35). I think that the wheel itself should be able to handle the load better than aftermarket wheels but maybe someone else should be able to enlighten us on this. I guess you should just make sure you get the right tire size so it doesn't rub anything and with the correct load to handle the heavier Q.

I recently bought a set of lightly used 17" x 7" 6-spoke 2002 G35 wheels for my 95 Q45. Have not installed them yet, but will do so soon ...

What you need to be careful about is that there are two types of G35 wheels in the 17" size. On one model 2002 G35 (the sedan, I believe), the wheels were all 45 mm offset - these will fit just fine on 90-96 first gen Q's. On 97-99 second gen Q's, a 40mm offset wheel was used originally (I believe), so 45mm ought to work on them too, but you should verify.

On another model of G35 (I believe this was the coupe version), the 17" wheels have 30mm offset front and 33mm offset rear ... can't "rotate" these front to back, by the way. These will probably have difficulty fitting on the Q's, but I am not certain of this. Personally, I would avoid getting them, unless you can return easily.

FWIW, I paid $660 for a set of four G35 wheels with about 2000 miles on them and one or two very light scratches. They look great otherwise. The price was just a tad high, but it was good enough for me.

Per Dennis, I should probably have tried to get 16 x 8 Q rims to get the optimal Firestone SZ50EP on them, but these rims are far less "available".

Also, most tires in a 245/45-17 will give you about the same rolling diameter as the stock 215/65-15 on a 15 inch rim. So, this does not require a speedo adjustment. Just make sure that you get a 95 or higher load rating!

I like the Firestone SZ50EP in that size (price is right at Tirerack.com). But I am considering others too: Yokohama AVS dB S2 and (per Q45Tech's recent post) and the Sumitomo htrZ (I think that is what he meant by "Sumo Z" :) ).

Which of the two G35 type wheels fit the I30?

Z,

Where did you get those wheels? Compared to the other prices I'm seeing 660 is a good deal. Also, I'm having trouble finding the 45mm offsets.

Hi, Nick.
An eBay auction. The guy had both types of G35 wheels (45mm and a 30/33mm combo) up for sale. The 45mm ones came off a 2002 G35 sedan.

They are 17x7 and I am wondering if Infiniti has decided to change the offset for the 2003 to only the 30/33mm, since I am seeing 17x7.5 with the same 30/33mm offsets for 2003 wheels on eBay.Quote »Compared to the other prices I'm seeing 660 is a good deal.
Yeah! :) That is why I went for them, although I actually thought it was a bit high, since they had more than the usual tiny miles on them.Quote »Also, I'm having trouble finding the 45mm offsets.
I suspect that this is because the the 45mm offset wheels were only used for the sedan and not the coupe. The coupe purchasers are probably far more interested in changing the wheels (to 18" or 19") so they put their OEM 17" rims on the market more often. The sedan guys don't care as much probably. This is, of course, a complete WAG! :)

You may want to ask the eBay or other sellers, if they have not specifically listed the offset, to look inside the rim for you - the offset is clearly labelled (embossed) in the metal.

Joe Tsensky at Scottsdale Infiniti has occasionally listed new G35 take-offs in the past for not too much money. You might want to drop him a line and see if he has anything available in the right size ...
