Hi, I came up on this article on the net http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...402#2 It says that they added some turbo charge and CAIs and the versa is 270hp now, is that really possible with the enigne the Versa has right now?

The sky's the limit, really - your only limiting factor is really going to be how much money you're willing to spend. I mean, I have no idea what the "top" power output of the MR18 engine is, but I bet you'd be hard pressed to get much more out of it than they did. Squeezing 150 more hp out of this little engine sure is an impressive feat.

In addition to a turbocharger and CAI, it has upgraded fuel injectors, exhaust, oh and Nitrous.

I'd like to see the bill for all this!

lol would it cost the same as they bought the car? lol because if it would then thats a stupid waste of money, they could have bought a nissan maxima and have all those horeses with no upgrades

But then you would have a Maxima and not a Versa and an engine that would last longer. Start pushing the little one like that and it will not last long .

That's one way to look at it, and perhaps how I'd assess it. But there's something to be said for doing an "overhaul" like this just for the sake of doing it. Sure it's expensive and defeats the intended purpose of the car - but I think that's almost the point. If you want break-neck performance from a compact package like the Versa - then you're probably not a fan of the size of the Maxima...but I get what you're saying.

Yeah, I have to question the longevity of the internals when stressed to the max.

Maybe 270hp is too much for that little engine but I wonder how much you can push it before you start to have a negative effect on the longevity of the vehicle. I for sure would not mind an extra 20 or so hp if it could be done cheap enough and without hurting the car.
