Welcome to NICO!

A few people on here have swapped to the VG30DETT. It's major work and look to drop a hole in your wallet anywhere from $4k - $6k depending on how much of the work you can do yourself.

You can search this forum for some very detailed threads on the tt swap.

Search around on here too and you'll find that there isn't much in the way of aftermarket support for these cars. A few parts will work from the 300z but most of anything you want to do will have to be custom made.

http://www.jimwolftechnology.com sells an ECU upgrade for the J in its N/A form. Swaps are doable, but you better have some skills. Sad to say, about the most you can do to a J as it comes is a cone filter, ECU upgrade, and custom exhaust because no one makes an aftermarket one. And I guess if you're really squeezing, ditch the stock fan for some electric fans.

And now that I think about it, JWT might make some internals for it, since it's still the VG30DE. I'm not positive on what exactly is all the same between the 300zx and the J30.

I believe the engine is the same...it's the difference in underhood space that makes things difficult.

I'd rather see posts like this than I would ones that say "Do you think these JDM carbon-fiber, chome 22s with PS2 adapter would look good on my J?

it's nice to know I'm not giving out wrong info....

scott...yeah I agree much better to see than electrical taped headlights as a vip jdm fashion statement *chuckles*

Harris....It's been a bust lately on EBay for J30 rear speakers...seems like you can find fronts but rears seem a bit more elusive, but they have been known to show up there.

If you must have the Bose check out any local salvage yards to see if they have a wrecked J that hasnt been picked apart.

Or if you just want to fix and forget and have it done without a long search, just replace them with new 6x9's and a separate amp. Either one depending on the cost of the Bose replacements could be the same cost in the end.

I actually have 3 Infinitis in my driveway right now.

93 J30t - on blocks, bad engine, lots of parts now missing. hehe94 J30t - wife's car, pic in sig03 G35 - I sell cars and get to take whatever I want home. I chose this!! I'm having a blast with it.

You can actually replace the speakers with non-bose speakers and re-use the bose amps. They may not clip back on to the aftermarket speaker but they will function just the same. The only difference is that you may lose a little bass because the bose speakers were designed specifically for the acoustics in the J30.

true...but only issue I'd see is unless you got 1 ohm speakers instead of the normal 4 ohm....you'd have a loss in output power from the amps with the 4 ohms.

Thanks man. Funny thing...my name is actually Jake, but I was in some kind of wicked hurry when I signed up, so I just stuck with the typo. Any chance I can get that changed?

as far as performance upgrades this is what ive come up with:cone filter definately helpscustom exhaust is a must(make sure you go from the manifold back)if u ditch the fan and go electric you will have more power between 3 and 5000 rpmsUR and ASP make underdrive pulleysJim Wolf does an ECU reflash as well as offers cams and valve springsLevel Ten will rebuilt the transmission and make it "bulletproof" as they sayZ1 offers larger throttle bodies(58mm as opposed 50mm) HI offers a water pump pulley designed to work with the underdrive pulleyBrandon is right about the motors though...they are identical its just the lack of space thats a problem...personally im having a muffler shop fab an intake and headers for me...find someone reputable that knows what theyre talking about and just about anything can be done...you can also get larger injectors if im not mistaken but that would include a new fuel rail as well as a custom ECU flash(which Jim Wolf will do if you let them know ahead of time)...after all of the above is done on my J i plan on porting her out which should help as well...granted my mpg will have dropped significantly but if i tune it just right i shouldnt have too much of a loss in the end...

as i have gotten off on a rant like i always do welcome to NICO and good luck to you...if you want her to last id stick with OEM but otherwise have a blast...any other questions just ask...these guys know theyre stuff-K

What are those custom headers and exhaust going to cost you? Aren't you looking at like, a max gain of 15 hp? I don't mean to discourage you or anything, I', just wondering what the hp per dollar ratio is or something I guess.
