A quick update before i get to my question. I havent been lurking around here as much as usual, due mostly to the buying of my first home and spending all my time working on it. But also because my CA has been pretty much rock solid perfect for the last 10 months. So good that she's been my daily driver. Thats saying a lot considering i had a GT28R pushing 16 pounds of boost (550cc injectors, ROM tune, NISMO FPR, Walbro, Z32 MAF, deleted butterflies, metal head gasket, head studs and main studs, Spec stage 3 clutch, blah blah blah). Anyway, last night i felt like leaving my mark on the way out of work, 100 feet worth of burning tire marks. Well, unfortunately, i think i blew the turbo. Not a huge deal, especially considering that GT28R was one of those $400 eBay specials. It was totally my fault, i didnt warm the car up or anything, just turned the key and dumped the clutch. It did good for almost a year, which was more than i expected when i bought it. Anyway, with income taxes coming, and a huge tax credit for being a first time home buyer, im probably going to purchase a Garrett GT2871R .64 A/R, probably from FRSport.com.
Does anyone else have a problem with their SR downpipe hanging too low under the car? I have one of those SSAutochrome exhaust manifolds, a GT28R, a Megan elbow and Megan downpipe, and the downpipe hangs completely below the frame. It is the absolute lowest thing on the car. The elbow and downpipe are for the SR, but bolt up to the original T25 and now the GT28R. Since i am yanking everything back out, i was wondering if i should be looking at a different downpipe/elbow combination so that i can eventually get coilovers and lower the car even more. As it sits now, the downpipe is about 1 inch from the ground, but the car looks like it could stand to be lowered another 2 (i have Eibach Sportline springs). Any insight would be appreciated.
