Does any one have pictures of the stock 6spd OE clutch disk ? The reason I ask ,I just bought a replacement clutch kit for my 02 max , the clutch disk they sent me looks like a stocker but it has NO springs. Am I missing something or did they send me some sort of upgraded disk? EVERY clutch job I have done the disk had springs.
I will post a picture later if any one is interested . Thanks!

It depends on the clutch. You can get clutch discs that are sprung and unsprung. 99% of the time, you will need the sprung disc. I would verify that they sent you the correct part number. If they did, ask them if there is a sprung disc option for your car.

The kit itself is a Exedy, and the part number is the one listed for the 02 on Exedy's site as for the disk itself , the part number on the box is NDS 143 or the "old number" 9K20 these part numbers don't bring any results when searched. I may take it to a local parts house to see of they can search the part number ...

The stocker is unsprung and the flywheel itself is sprung. Keep in mind that the flywheel can NOT be resurfaced and it might be a good time to upgrade to an aluminum flywheel and a sprung 350z disc and pressure plate. Let me know if you have any other questions, I went through a lot of hassles with my car, I even redesigned SPEC's flywheel for them so it would actually work on fwd applications.

Ok great thanks for the reply !! I think I may return the kit I bought . So what brand of flywheel do you recommend ? As for the clutch kit just get a good 350z kit and get a throwout for the max? And mods that I need to make it all work?
I am not about to go though the work of replacing the clutch and leave the flywheel un touched .

Honestly a flywheel is a flywheel, so feel free to find the best price. I put a 12lb one in mine, and in would do an 18lb one if I were to do it again. I have an exedy stock replacement for a 350z in my car and am happy with it. I only have a few mods and am not making much over stock power, so I didn't see a need for anything else. Add a maxima throwout bearing and your done. No other mods, and everything else bolts up great.

I noticed a LOT of difference in the slop after because the springs in the flywheel were in horrid shape after 95k miles in my car. Only other thing is that the transmission is a huge pain in the a** to get in and out because there isn't anywhere good to put a jack on it. Also keep an eye on the wires on the back, it's really easy to get them hung up on the lower control arm bolt.

Ok I have one more question . Is there any drawbacks to using a solid flywheel and a around clutch? Nissan had to put it there for some reason.

After some checking alot of cars use the dual mass ... Vw , BMW, SvT Focus, even a super duty trucks. All new concept to me.

A little gear chattering noise when your idling in neutral is about the only thing that I have noticed. From what I have read, they use it to reduce noise in the car.

Ok cool, I can live with gear noise . I am used to noises i have a 84 Z ;) I just don't want to break stuff , I don't want to have to find a HLSD 6mt to replace mine. I could only imagine what the going rate is for one.
