If you guys have inspections then the car wont pass inspection... Technically, you can sell the car but the person may not be able to get tags due to inspections.. I dont know what the rules about inspections and emissions is in WA, but it is technically illegal to remove the cats in all 5 states.

It depends on the year of the car. Without ODB II, they will stick the thingy in your tailpipe and measure. There's less leniency with 90s cars, so you likely will not be able to pass inspection and not drive it anywhere but a privately owned track.

Diamond,

I am sorry to hear about your condition worsening. I hope you will continue to share your considerable knowledge with us if you do decide to trade in your J. You are truly at the forefront of customizing/upgrading the J, your experience needs to be shared with the rest of us.

P.S. If you consider selling yours, I may be very interested (Indiana has no emissions testing ;-)) or, if you just want to let one set of your lowering springs go to a fellow J fanatic, you know who to contact first!

Your J is BADA$$!!!!

Hey Diamond,

I haven't been around too much at all in the last couple of years. Sorry your condition hasn't improved. Any postives in the prognosis you can look forward to? I sure hope so. You have your J on rails and it is awful that it is now too "demanding" on your spine to drive her like she wants to be. You are one of the few that has taken the J into the mod shop and there are other's who would greatly appreciate he insight of your experience. Please keep showing up for the benefit of this great car.

Still love my J30t but she does have close to 170k on her now.

What kind of change in MPG did you notice when you removed/gutted the cat? I previosly had a Mazda Miata and got a 4mpg increase, my friend Camry V6 the same, but the J30 = nothing. Did you notice a difference?

this may be why,

in a nut shellheres a partial mod list on my car custom made sway bars custom made 2.25 inch drop 40% over springs,2 sets. stillin pop charger porterfield r4-s brake pads porterfield brake lines porterfield cryo, and heat treated crossdrilled rotors high flow cats borla mufflers 15"blue streak glasspacks to smooth it out. 2-dual angle cut and rolled borla tip jet ecu upgrade custom made double adjustable konis, had them make the rear ones. struts up front are konis for a 96 maxima i30. 436 rear end gearing well there ya go

bet id get even better with the oem rims.mine are like ankors.super heavy.sucks, but look nice.if the car was another color i wouldnt have used crome.

i never mentioned but the other springs are stock height, front,a little higher.can support a v8Modified by diamond at 6:17 PM 11/10/2005

Jeeze, Diamond, that's not a very encouraging prognosis. Living with a severe injury is daunting to say the least. When there is news of a car crash in which the victims have survived but suffered serious injuries or soldiers that have been wounded but lived, many people think it'll be OK because they didn't die. However, I always think about the challenges the injured will face in their new life. But you have your mind (such as it is ) intact and while your pain no doubt hugely intrudes on your consciousness you can still appreciate and be appreciated. I think of the mother of a Canadian infantryman who suffered severe brain damage in a friendly fire incident where a US plane dropped a 500 lb bomb on his unit (4 killed 8 wounded) in Afghanistan who said, "We hope he'll be able to feed himself one day." The guy is only 23 and though he lived he isn't living. Your debilitating pain takes a nasty toll on your quality of life but you are still quite alive so hang in there! Glad to hear that you have a better pain control regime happening. The thing about bad pain - at least for me - is that it is so damn boring! It's just there right in your face and it can't be ignored. It won't let you read the paper or watch TV or take a pleasurable drive. Pepole who have learned to deal with heavy pain have my total respect because the amount of will power it takes is amazing. Keep up the fight, Diamond.

Regards,

MJ
