The short explanation is I want to basically switch the AC condenser and the intercooler's places.

Still running the stock IC, and looking at some upgrade options. It seems to be that if I can put an IC about where the AC condenser is now, I can use a larger core and still keep the lag down due to shorter piping(they can go right through the core support and strait to the turbo and throttle body).

Now the IC is more important than AC, so what I've got planned for that is gonna happen no matter what. But what I'm curious about is if it's possible to put a more compact, but thicker, condenser where the stock IC is now?

It looks like an evaporator would fit there, have room for a fan, and it would prob have the right fittings, and there basically just heat exchangers anyway. a few fabbed lines to run there, and a few relocated smaller parts are no problem. I'd like to keep the AC if I can, but I need that condenser core out of the way.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

well even if I were to go with a front mount IC(which I don't see why it would be better than in front of the radiator, basically where the hood latch is), I still want to try to move the AC condenser to where the stock IC is.

That way there's nothing blocking air flow to the radiator except the IC, and the AC is just a free spinning pulley and a little extra weight when not in use. Curious though, why do you think it's a bad idea? To me it seems like I'm removing 1 or 2 ft of IC piping at the cost of some heat soak to the IC while the car isn't moving very fast.

cooler air over the i/c is more important then saving a foot or two of i/c piping, its up to you but heat soak sucks
