question on AAC valve

I remember when I took out my AAC valve the piston and spring both come out like the ones in the FICD. I bought another set of the assembly and when I opened it up to clean it the piston didn't come out from the AAC. I don't think it's even possible to get it out. Is it the same part or completely differ?
