Ok, my check engine light has been on for a loooooong time. First time it showed up I of course checked it out. Had a Snap On Scanner available and the codes it threw out were for the Knock Sensor and also the 02 sensor.

The 02 sensor code is whats confusing me. I have a 95 240 with the KA. It's OBDI, with the OBDII port on the passenger side as well. I have only one Oxygen sensor and when I did smog they used the sniffer. I think that if it's OBDII they just read the codes and all right? I checked the codes on both the OBDII Connection port and the CONSULT connection. Managed to read and erase them just fine.

Well anyways, the Code that it threw out said Bank 1 Sensor 2. At first, im just thinking "Ok, ill just get a new 02 sensor."

When I ran it without the 02 sensor in there just to see what it would sound like for a while "Damn that sucker is LOUD" it threw out the code for Bank 1 Sensor 1.

I put in the new 02 sensor and it got rid of the Sensor 1 code and still threw the Sensor 2 code. Does this mean that my ECU thinks it's OBDII or something?

Erased the codes, all semeed fine for a day. The next morning the CEL is on again. And still with the same Sensor 2 code?

When I first got the car, it ran perfectly for the first 2 months, throwing no codes whatsoever.

So, what really is the Bank 1 Sensor 2 supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the Rear 02 sensor that my car doesent have?

And also, will running with a busted knock sensor affect anything? Hasent felt any weird at all cause of it though.

Thanks for ANY help.

If I recall right the '95s do have 2 sensors. Should be 1 before the cat and 1 after. OBD 1.5 so to speak.I think they still sniff OBDII cars. Harder to fool the machines.

the knock sensor adjust the timing acording to detonation; if you don't change you knock sensor and you get a tank of bad gas you could blow your engine up

Wow. Don't want to do that...

Guess I have to go to the junkyard and find myself a knock sensor, cause im not going to pay 160 bucks for one.

They should be the same on older model DE's right?
