Post

I just bought a 08 altima coupe 2.5 and I'm wondering whether an issue with the window that I'm having is unique to my car or if it's just the way it was made.

When my side windows have condensation/moisture on them I roll the windows down in an attempt to wipe off the moisture so that I can actually see out and use my side mirrors. BUT when I roll the windows down...there is no wiping going on. (My previous car was able to do this...) SO...Is that normal with the altima coupes or is it just my car?!? It's really bugging me and I want to fix it.

Could be your car. Mine wipes off when I put the windows down. Not sure why yours is not doing the same. It'll be hard to try to get the dealer to replace it. They'll look at it alright but more than likely they'll say that's normal. Damn dealers Good luck with that.

Thanks....I'm going to go make some demands now. Hopefully they won't be a-holes about it.

That's incredibly annoying when i have to manually wipe that sh*t off every freakin morning!

This is on the outside? If so I'd highly recommend RainX. The kind that comes in the squeeze bottle. I can be in the middle of a rainstorm and my side and back windows will be completely dry, usually don't need wipers either, that stuff is great.

Check it out here: http://doitbest.com/main.aspx?...=true

Cool! Thanks, I'll def. try the RainX.

I called the dealership and they say that my car may not have that "feature." WTF? I mean, this beautiful car has a push button ignition, keyless entry, really cool transmission but oh no...no the windows don't wipe off moisture when rolled down. STUPID.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestion....but I'm really curious if any other coupe owners have this issue as well??

Just so you know, my window acts the same way. No biggie to me.

BTW I also recommend Rain X.

isn't that just your weather seals rubbing the glass when it rolled down, thus removing the water?

Hmm...so it look like 1/2 of the ppl who responded so far has the same issue as me. Argh! The service rep at the dealer said jokingly, "Hmm..I've never gotten that question before...I guess the only way to see is if you come in the morning and we roll one of our model windows down and see if it works or doesn't."

I'm taking him up on the offer. I don't know why but this issue buggin the s*it out of me. I've driven really crappy cars with manual roll down windows and I've never had a problem with that.

Anyhow, I'll give you guys an update when I stop by the dealership tomm.

Thanks for all your feedbacks..kinda makes me feel better that it's not only my car, but still annoyed that the car wasn't made with this "feature" mind.

my windows do it, what i would do is go to a different stealership and act like you want to buy a coupe. then ask to see the same model that you have. take with you a small spray with water. and spray the windo and test it. if the guy asks you if you your crazy just tell him you want a car that can wipe off water when you roll the windo down. then if it works you have your proof and go back to your stealership and show them.

Sorry about the ginormous pics...got a little overzealous. Anyways, I bought the car with the grill already installed. So, I have no idea what kind it is and all that.

You know what? Maybe it's a 2.5S thing and the 3.5's don't have a problem with it.......I dunno....I'll keep you guys posted.

I was messsing around with it today and putting down my windows does not wipe the water off. I am wondering if some pressure can be applied to the weather strips to make them closer to the window, then the water would run off. Either way, I put RainX on my windows so the water beads off pretty well and 'clumps' together so its not too hard to see out. THat would be really ridiculous if this was a feature on the 3.5 but not on the 2.5

It's a car by car basis really, not really a coupe thing.

It just depends on how tight the rubber lip at the bottom of the window is to the glass, it's purpose isn't specifically to act as a window wiper, so it not a defect if it's not doing that.

Like someone else suggested, get RainX. I use the little squeegie bottle on my windows/rear and the washer fluid for the windshield. It's great - especially down here in Florida.

Stuff makes the windshield look better in pouring rain without the wipers on, then it does before you use the stuff and wipers on full blast.

I thought mine did it... but I tested it yesterday to be sure, definitely doesn't.

Try the Rain-X and you'll forget this was ever a problem!!

Okay, So I tested a 2.5 at a dealership and the windows didn't wipe.

So...I went online and found a window treatment that supposedly lasts longer than RainX ...it's called Aquapel. I'm sure that'll help.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone.

haha...i believe you...as someone said earlier though..it's a car by car basis. Luck you but Sucks Sh*t for me... but I'm over it. I did the aquapel window treatment....and damn..the condensation in the morning is very thin and rain droplets are a thing of the past. Good stuff.
