Question: Oil Additives in a 2008 EX35 Journey

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Anyone,

What is the break in period for the EX35? and should you use an oil additive, say Tribo-tech or Dura-lube, Slick50 in these engines. Any help will be great.

Thanks,Chris

The breakin period for your VQ35 in your EX is about 1,000 miles - if you read through the manual, it states that you should not drive for a prolonged period at a steady speed, and that you shouldn't take it over 4k RPM's.

There is no need to use any additives in either your oil or fuel - both of these can be detrimental to the engine in the long run.

Just drive it easy at varied speeds for the first 4k miles, and you should be good to go!

Thank you for the update.

How come then most people promote these additives, that it will help your car and engine. What is special with these engines that we should not use oil or fuel additives?
