Ok I have two 240sx's. In the near future, I'm going to rebuild my ka24e in my 90 240 and install my cx racing turbo kit on it (a couple other tuning mods - mostly all the work is for motor building practice and to do some patchwork on the body. While I'm doing that I'm going to convert my 91 240 to a manual with the clutch out of the 90 and going to install a new one in the 90 to handle the power (230 approximately once I get it tuned with my e-manage, self-chipped ecu, aeromotive fpr and 550cc injectors.

On my 91 I have a 5 lug conversion, 300z brakes plus e-brake, some 17inch x8 and x9 rims and a 3 in exhaust and intake. I plan on upgrading the coilovers and installing lsds in both. The suspension's work besides that's pretty much done (tension rods, tie rods, etc) or going to be done before I continue anything else.

My plan is to drop a rebuilt sr in the 91 when I finish building it up (solid lifters - 9000 rpm, haltech ecu, gt2871, etc etc)

Anyway my question is what do you think is better for me to do to my daily driver (the 90 240) after I get done my ka24e build. Should I rebuild the ka24de and turbo it and do alot of head work? Should I build the ka24e even more with a new cam and head work? All I really got so far for engine parts is eagle rods. And I don't want to raise the compression higher than 9.0 on anything so if I was going to get racing pistons for the ka24de I don't want the flat racing ones and the ka24e is only 8.0. So what do you guys think? I'm going to do a better boost build on whichever I do (swap the exhaust manifold, build an intake manifold probably with itbs, probably a garrett t3/t4 (hopefully ball bearing) or gt30 on the ka)

I think you should keep the KA-ET. Not enough of them around here. SOHC has almost the same potential as the DOHC when turbo'd.

I've never seen any around here either. But the build up is about the same price. And I do think that the sohc would be alot easier to work on once i finish it compared to the dohc. Supposedly you can shove 600hp out of one. And you can get a tri-ground cam - I want to go like semi-race for the daily driver. Pushing out around 350-450 in theory with like a mid cam 272 maybe or a little lower. Ease of getting parts is a little harder since everyone prefers building the dohc but I mean alot of the parts are the same internally. The only thing that the sohc doesn't have is the piston oil squirters but there is an old build online where a guy said the entire block has all the piping for them so all you need is a set out of ka24de. I know you guys are hooked on the ka24de but what makes it so much better lol? I want to try and get which ever I go with to 7.5K rpm with the proper build. So any more opinions? I'm so torn. I mean the sohc is a mean looking easy to work on engine, but generally you would just assume that the dohc would inevitably get more power in the end. Then again I would prefer a low compression like 8.6 to 9.0:1 so the sohc I think is alot easier to get that out of since it already has an 8.6:1 compression, but the original owner swapped the ka24e so it might be a 9.1:1 block. Since I'm doing a rebuild eh I guess original compression is kind of a moot point. I don't think that I want to bore out the block to anything higher but I might change my mind - maybe bore and sleeve it. I think 2.4L is plenty for a daily driver but you guys can argue your cases.... now lol
