I am trying to decide between buying a 2006 G35x or an 2007 G35. My main concern is the performance of the 2007 G35 in the snow. I have never had a rear wheel drive car before and was not sure how the 07 G35 would handle in the snow. I live in Colorado so winter trips into the mountains will be frequent. Any help would be appreciated.

With skills you can get around with the RWD car even if it is 300+hp. However you must need snowtires. If you want to be on the safe side by an X and you can even enjoy the snow. I can upload some video tomorrow how the X handles in snow. Maybe somebody else can do with the S.

I have to go and get some sleep.

I upload some videos tomorrow for you.

I have had no problems with snow as long as roads are plowed. As long as you have good tires and drive carefully you should be ok. If I lived in Colorado I would also own chains.

I would say if you go to the mountains you should buy the X.

Here is a video with all season tires and the snow mode is not engaged. Just normal start.

If you put winter set on it it would be a tank.

I think you would be better off with an X

Finally! Another one from CO!

First off-chains are for the weak-even here! Unless you're up around Eisenhower in a whiteout I guess...

I have the X here and I was glad I did. As you know, it can start out at 80 degrees and finish as a blizzard and that X is well worth the cash IMHO. I have found both my G35X and my old Jeep to be very good in snow with the main difference being the clearance on the Jeep of course.

The day my X payoff came was when it started out nice and we had a blizzard by the end of the day last winter. I was driving around and cruising through the stuck on an off-ramp on 36. It is days like that when I am glad I went X even if I have my Jeep is available for snow days.

And what is the difference between the X and the regular G35 600hppot? I know there's some weight issues but I'm going to dare to say neither is slow...

They plow your roads for you?! Must be nice...they tend to use more of a Darwin theory out here. And then rip on us for owning SUVs...

Little more weight and lot more traction. That's all.

I would also vote for the X if you are going to be driving in snow!RWD cars don't like starting off on hills with snow under them.

I own an O3 G35 coupe and my recomendation to you is to go with all wheel drive. I live in Lakewood CO and work at elevation 10,400ft. One of my favorite things to do is drive in the snow. Until I purchased this particular car. It is completely worthless in snow. If you plan to go the mountains even once i would urge you to get the X. Having fun in the snow is one thing... Not knowing if you are going to make it to where you want to go is another... There is just too much power and too sensitive of a throttle to drive this car in snow. Even with the traction control. When you turn it on your car will spin then stop, over and over. Just keep in mind the new G37 coupe comes in AWD, and that is what i recomend. If I could do it again I would get the X model. Good luck, and Infiniti is a great car. Thanks for reading...

I beg to differ. I drove my 06 coupe through a snow storm 465 miles (yes, it was a snow storm the whole way). Roads weren't plowed, if there was asphalt, it was a two-track. The kicker to that is that I did with 2/32 of tread on the OE all-seasons.

But then again, I grew up and learned how to drive in one of the snowiest areas of the country.

The biggest issue is when the roads aren't plowed and you're in the city. The city I live in now has no freakin clue how to plow or prepare for a snow storm. That's really the only time I have an issue.

Since you plan to go into the mountains during the winter, you would be wise to get an all wheel drive model instead of just rear wheel drive. Also, invest in good snow tires, such as Bridgestone Blizzaks, on an extra set of wheels. Remember that, when the snow gets deep enough to high center your car, it doesn't matter how many wheels you have driving or what kind of tires or chains you have on them.

If you were going to stay in the city, I think you could get by with snow tires on a rear wheel drive car. Denver should know how to clean up after a snow storm.
