Question Fuel pump?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I just want to know if I have turbo on my ka do I have to upgrade fuel pump if I got 370cc injectors?Do I have to upgrade my ecu?

fuel pump is a REALLY good idea, just look for a walbro 255 on ebay or someplace. As for the ecu, it depends.

you have to upgrade your fuel management too, but there are lots of ways to do that... hacked mafs, RRFPR, safc, e manage, stand alone, a thousand others...

With 370cc injectors, the factory fuel pump will flow fine so long as the pump is working normally. And you will need an ECU upgrade or some other method of compensating for the larger injectors.

Yes, the oem fuel pump will work fine--which raises the question: why do the NSPORT kits, etc, come with walbro fuel pumps for only 7 psi? I just upgraded mine to a walbro 255 lph (hell, I needed SOMETHING for Christmas) mainly for peace of mind-I don't want to spend $450 on an ECU and more on injectors and then skimp on the fuel pump.

Because Nsport uses a FMU. The FMU requires much higher pressures than larger injectors that are running on the base fuel pressures. And the higher pressure you run, the lower the flow. While a good working OEM fuel pump can support about 7 psi, as the fuel pump ages, I'd be less inclined to use it. Swapping the fuel pump is a good measure of extra insurance in that case. I ran my FMU at 6.5 psi starting at about 70,000 miles with no problems. The only problems I ran into were when i started getting boost spikes with the good old deltagate. It started detonating at about 8 psi, so there wasn't much room to play...

you might as well get a walbro. they're cheaper than stock. Just type in "walbro 240sx" on ebay and you'll find what you need.

Sorry, I wasn't implying my post towards you. I just meant that, if your fuel pump is old 75k+ miles, then it's better to just spend 90 bucks on a walbro instead of 250 on a stock fuel pump.

Spend 100 bucks now…save 500+ later

About the fuel management upgrade, S-AFC is a popular method although a crude one.One method offers a wide range of tuning for a low price, and that it the Greddy e-manage, that plus the software, injector and ignition harness will cost you less then 500 bucks, which is less then the cost of a JWT ECU, and you don’t have to pay extra to get it reprogrammed every time you add something to your car.

That's quite subjective. My OEM fuel pump works fine. For meeting the flow and pressure requirements of 370cc injectors, it's fine. And I'm coming up on 86,000 miles. Some are comfortable with this. Some are not. That is your opinion, which you are certainly entitled to. But I do think it's worth the risk in my case, so I don't consider your statement to be fact. If i had a 200,000 mile car that wasn't cared for, I might have a different opinion. So it really just depends.

Yeah, I heard somewhere that some guy with a KA had like 400 hp and was on the stock fuel pump--I think I heard that over on the Fresh Alloy forums....

Checkered member--if you have a 2003 Audi A6 2.7T, then what the hell are you doing wasting your time modifying an altima?!? Chip that Audi up; you'll get it to 300+ hp quite easily...(I'm just playin' around with ya--you know you can't get away from the KA!!!!! lol)
