Question for you LS1 guys

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Im planning on doing an ls1 swap in the future, but Im also planning on moving back out to california, so my questions are:

1) Do the engines you guys buy generally have all the emissions stuff on them (ie. airpump, egr, etc.)

2) what modifications if any would i need to make to get all of the emissions stuff to work on an s14

Thanks in advance for your answers. I want a car that is completely legal to drive on the streets in cali, but at the same time will give me more horsepower at a very reliable stock state for a long time

I don't have an LSX in my 240 but I am a tech at a gm dealer and that should qualify me to answer. If you do a stock ls swap you should be ok. You may want to do one that came with the CA smog setup though. The only worry would be the exhaust, the cats bolt to the manifold and you may have a fitment issue.

i would think i can get a smog ref to certify it providing its cleaner than a 240, I may be getting a 95 shell so then i'd only be sniffer iirc, and I dont see any problem with the sniffer part offhand

Im no expert but swapping engine with a different engine all together is a red flag. Even if it is runing clean I think you may run into issues in CA. but as far as EGR LS1's up to hmmmm 99 or 00 still had the EGR.

laws state that you cannot swap in an older engine into a newer chassis, im sure with all the equipment i'd be able to get it cirtified by a smog ref
